The first of two exciting Game 7s in the Stanley Cup playoffs goes down in what is sure to be a rocking Madison Square Garden on Friday night when the New York Rangers host the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Momentum is definitely in New York’s corner after their 7-3 blowout win in Game 6 -and history is also on the Rangers side – they are 7-0 all-time in Game 7s on home ice. Can the Lightning rebound and buck the trends or does New York have some more Game 7 magic up their sleeves? Let’s take a look.
Youth, inexperience and a bad case of the flu has plagued the Tampa Bay Lightning the last week or so. Seemingly all that was right for the team in the first few games of the series has disappeared.
Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat haven’t scored in the last three games after dominating the playoffs prior to Game 3.
The Triplets line is still responsible for 12 of the 28 goals Tampa has scored in the series and Johnson himself had two assists in Game 6 but without the most dangerous line in the playoffs filling the net the Lightning could be in trouble.

Steven Stamkos had his four game goal scoring streak snapped on Tuesday night – maybe the defensive-minded Rangers have figured something out.
Offense will be hard to come by against Game 7 magician Henrik Lundqvist – the Lightning need to figure something out – QUICK!
Ben Bishop will need to play better between the pipes on Friday night as well – he hasn’t been great in the Conference Final. He allowed five goals of the seven goals in Game 6 and now own a 3.17 GAA and .889 save percentage in the series. Bishop has now allowed five goals or more in three of the six games against New York – yuk.
He did pitch a shutout in Game 5 – the last time these teams met at MSG however.
Now for some incredible numbers posted by the New York Rangers when facing elimination – specifically Henrik Lundqvist.
King Henrik has a .954 save percentage in his last 18 facing elimination and has won an incredible 10 straight such games at MSG. He has won an unfathomable six straight Game 7s as well posting an inhumane 0.84 GAA and .973 save percentage in those victories. Incredible!
Not only do the Rangers have an out-of-this-world keeper going for them but they have an offense that has scored 18 goals in the last four games. The depth has really started to show up for New York.
Derick Brassard scored a hat trick and added two assists in Game 5, Rick Nash had a goal and three assists in that game and now has seven points in his last three games, JT Miller who scored on Tuesday has four points in two game and names like Chris Kreider and Derek Stepan, although somewhat quiet still exist as a dangerous second unit.
New York’s defensemen have also been getting into the offensive act – Keith Yandle has seven points in his last four games and Dan Boyle has six points in five contests.

Everything is going right for New York heading into Game 7- their offense is peaking and Henrik Lundqvist is… Henrik Lundqvist.
