The San Jose Sharks have shown both of their “sides” so far in the four games of their series with the Los Angeles Kings – the one that can’t buy a goal and one that can’t seem to be slowed in the offensive zone. It will be up to the Los Angeles Kings to stop the bleeding and to stay alive in their quarter-final series on Saturday.

Los Angeles certainly has their work cut out for them as they head back to San Jose on Saturday – a rink that they have gone just 9-20 in their last 29 games. To make matters worse, the momentum is clearly on the other side and Jonathan Quick is struggling badly.

The Kings got an unexpected lift from Justin Williams in Game 1 but since then he has been ineffective as has the rest of the team. Drew Doughty is pointless in his last two games and Dustin Brown is pointless since Game 1. Ever since the first period of Game 2 in which the Kings led 4-0, they have been outscored 12-4 – totally dominated.

Before this series it was understood that the Kings had the goaltending advantage but Jonathan Quick has not lived up to expectation. He has given up a staggering 12 goals on 63 shot in the last two games but will start again on Saturday.

The San Jose Sharks are absolutely rolling after a span on 4+ periods in the series without a goal. I guess they could slip back into a similar pattern but it doesn’t seem possible. The offense is clicking and Antti Niemi shook off a couple of suspect outings and looked good in Game 4.

Is there anyone hotter than Ryan Clowe? He has recorded consecutive two goal games to lead what is a very deep and dangerous Sharks offense. Logan Couture also has four points in his last two games. If the Sharks top two – Thornton and Heatley catch fire, the Sharks will be scary – they have managed four combined points in their last two games.

Antti Niemi appears to have gotten his bad game out of the way and made 35 saves on 38 shots in Game 4.

NHL Betting Trends:
LA are 18-7 in their last 25 Sat. games.
Under is 10-4-2 in LA last 16 overall.
Over is 9-1-2 in SJ last 12 games following a win.
Over is 12-3-2 in SJ last 17 overall.
Over is 7-2-1 in SJ last 10 vs. Pacific.
LA are 9-20 in the last 29 meetings in San Jose.
LA are 16-35-1 in the last 52 meetings.

Betting Prediction: There is always a chance that the Kings find some inspiration like they did in Game 1 but with the way the Sharks are playing, it doesn’t seem to be in the cards. The Kings have struggled traditionally in San Jose, Jonathan Quick is in a brutal slump and Los Angeles appears to have nothing left in the tank. This series will be over on Saturday night!

Pick: San Jose Sharks -210 and the Over – 5 goals
