Vancouver Coach Alain Vigneault didn’t have much to say to his players after Tuesday night’s humiliating loss in Chicago – he hopes that the Canucks play in Game 5 on home ice will do their talking for them. The Blackhawks stayed alive in their first round series with an uber-impressive 7-2 beat down of the Canucks on Tuesday. It could either have been a big catalyst for the Hawks going forward or it could have acted as a wake-up call for the seemingly complacent Canucks.

The Chicago Blackhawks dominated every aspect of Game 4 and hope to continue the momentum on Thursday night. Chicago got a huge lift from Dave Bolland on Tuesday night. Not only did he neutralize the Sedin twins but he also registered one goal and three assists. He was the spark that the Hawks have been missing!

The rest of the Hawks offense was strong as well in Game 3. Patrick Sharp had two goals, Michael Frolik had a goal and two assists and Patrick Kane had two assists. Jonathan Toews recorded a point in his second straight game – an assist to follow up two assists in Game 2. It is safe to say that the Chicago offense has woken from their slumber (except for Marion Hossa who has just one assist in the series)!

The Vancouver Canucks are going to take the game tape from Tuesday night’s affair and burn it. Truth be told – the Canucks were due for a bad game. Roberto Luongo let in six goals on 28 shots and the Sedin boys were a combined minus seven on the evening. It is not panic time in Canucks-land yet – they were the best team in the NHL this season for a reason!

Offensively, the Canucks simply couldn`t get in any sort of rhythm. With last change and a raucous crowd behind them Thursday, expect a crisper and more effective Vancouver team to show up. Some more production from Ryan Kesler would be nice too – he has just three assists in the series so far.

Do we need to worry about Roberto Luongo? Absolutely not – he had a bad game like everyone else on the team and will be extra motivated on Thursday night.

NHL Betting Trends:
Over is 6-1-1 in CHI last 8 vs. Western Conference.
Under is 6-2 in CHI last 8 games following a win.
CHI are 9-4 in their last 13 Thu. games.
Under is 6-1-1 in VAN last 8 Thu. games.
Under is 15-5-1 in VAN last 21 vs. Central.
Under is 20-8-2 in VAN last 30 overall.
Over is 6-1-1 in the last 8 meetings in Vancouver.

Betting Prediction: The Vancouver Canucks were magic on home ice all season long and they were one of the most business-like teams in the league. Nobody expected the Canucks to sweep the Hawks in this series and with the idea of a sweep behind them; the Canucks can focus on simply eliminating Chicago. The Hawks caught the Canucks flat footed on Tuesday night – I don`t expect it to happen again!

Pick: Vancouver Canucks -210 and the Over – 5.5 goals
