Is it actually possible that we could see Boston and Montreal meet in an original six conference final? Amazing. The Canadiens keep getting outshot but keep finding ways to win.
It’s almost like they want it more than Pittsburgh does. The Pens are clearly the better team but Sidney Crosby’s relative “disappearance” in this series makes me wonder if he and his teammates have dulled ambition.
After all, they’ve had a long, long, couple of years, with two straight trips to the final and a championship.
Sid the Kid also had the drama of winning gold for Canada at this year’s Olympics.
What if the Pens are oversatisfied? In the third period of Game 4, Montreal actually outshot the Pens 16-9. Their small but speedy forwards are beating the tired Penguin defenders to one too many pucks of late.
My thinking: Pittsburgh will probably still pull out the series victory…but it will take facing elimination to give them the proper kick in the behind. That means Montreal will steal another one first.
As they showed the Capitals, they’re tough to beat when they have the series momentum.
Bet on the upset win for Montreal on Saturday but expect Pittsburgh to draw even in Game 6.
