The Nashville Predators will try to avoid a big hole on Thursday night when they host the Canucks in Game 4 of the Western Conference semi-final with Vancouver leading the series 2-1. Was the hooking call on She Weber in overtime of Game 3 justified? Probably not but one cannot get away from the simple fact that the Predators were totally outplayed by a better team on Tuesday night. It is once again up to the Nashville Predators to respond in order to even the series.

The Vancouver Canucks finally scored three goals in a game! I realize that it took 3 ½ periods. Ryan Kesler was dominant in Game 3 and it’s a good thing because the Sedins look like they are stuck in the mud (Henrik has gone 16 games without a goal)! With Kesler flying and the third and even fourth lines creating pressure Vancouver should be fine offensively. After all Kesler’s regular season goal total is double the highest scorer on the Nashville team!

Roberto Luongo has been solid and certainly won’t be the problem if the Canucks lose.

The Predators are a fighting team – a lunch bucket squad that will never take a night off. Their goal is to outwork their opponent and on Tuesday night, they got beaten in every little battle in the game. We know that the offense isn’t going to produce all that much but with the Tootoo line looking dangerous, things don’t look as bleak as they may appear to be.

Pekka Rinne has done his job and is due to steal a game for the Nashville Predators. He has had 80 pucks shot at him in the last two games and has stopped 76 of them. Rinne has a superb .955 save percentage so far in the series and is giving his team a chance to win each and every night.

NHL Betting Trends:
Under is 19-6-2 in VAN last 27 vs. Central.
VAN are 25-9 in their last 34 road games.
Under is 24-9-3 in VAN last 36 overall.
Under is 7-2 in NAS last 9 Thu. games.
Under is 13-4-4 in NAS last 21 vs. Northwest.
Over is 5-2-2 in NAS last 9 overall.
VAN are 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in Nashville.
Under is 5-2-1 in the last 8 meetings in Nashville.

Betting Prediction: The Nashville Predators didn’t finish with 99 points in the regular season by fluke – they are a solid hockey team. With Vancouver still not quite right, Nashville has a real chance of pulling even on Thursday night. I like the Preds +105 as a slight underdog to prove that they are not going down without a fight. Like them – not love them!

Again, the Under has to be a play here too. The Under is 10-2-2 in the last 14 meetings between the two clubs and is 5-2-1 in the teams’ last eight games in Nashville. These teams have scored a total of nine goals in the three games so far and have 23 goals combined in the seven games they have played this season!

Pick: The Under – 5 goals
