The Canadiens appeared dead to rights, down 2-0 heading back to MSG without their star goaltender, but the team scraped together an overtime win in Game 3, and will look to build on that momentum in this one.

The Canadiens saw Dustin Tokarski steal them a game in Game 3. Long considered a strong prospect and a possible goaltender of the future for the organization, Tokarski showed that he has something to offer now, stopping 35 of the 37 shots he faced in a 3-2 Game 2 overtime victory.

Canadiens forward Alex Galchenyuk scored the winner in Game 3, whether he wanted to or not. Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made a save that bounced up and hit Galchenyuk in the neck area and caromed back into the net.

The newly formed pairing of Daniel Briere and Thomas Vanek were also able to call back on some of the magic they created while with the Buffalo Sabres, with Vanek setting up Briere on a go-ahead goal in the third period.

Some familiar faces will be absent from Game 4. Rangers forward Daniel Carcillo was suspended 10 games for making physical contact with an official during Game 3. Also, Canadiens forward Brandon Prust was suspended two games by the league for a hit he made on Derek Stepan in Game 3. Stepan underwent surgery on his jaw on Friday, and his status for Game 4 on Sunday is unknown.

The Rangers also hope to get back forward Derick Brassard, who missed Games 2 and 3 with an upper-body injury that was aggravated by a hit from Canadiens defenseman Mike Weaver in Game 1. Brassard skated on a normal line at Saturday’s practice, though he did the same on Thursday prior to missing Game 3.

It wasn’t surprising to see the Canadiens put together a spirited rally to come up with a victory in one game of this series, but the team is simply too depleted to come up with another. Expect the Rangers to get back into the win column on their home ice.

Additionally, another heroic performance on the road from Tokarski seems more than unlikely. A regression in that area, coupled with the continued aggressiveness of Montreal’s offense, should help this game again at least play to the number.

The Rangers are 5-1 in their last six games overall, and 19-7 in their last 26 games when their opponent allows two goals or less in their previous game.

The over is 3-0-1 in the Canadiens’ last four games played on two days rest, and 4-1-2 in their last seven road games.

The play: New York -168, Over 5
