Well, Game 1 is ion the books, an unspectacular win by the Vancouver Canucks. I hate to say it but this type of hockey is what you can expect in this series. The Nashville Predators are best when they can dumb down a game – neutralize and pounce on mistakes. The problem is that the Vancouver Canucks are a team that is not prone to very many mistakes!

The Predators had a bad game on Thursday night all the way around. They looked a step slow and were not winning the necessary battles. There was virtually no offense from the Predators at all on Monday as a result.

Pekka Rinne was absolutely brilliant in Game 1 and appears to have regained his form after what was an underwhelming first round. He has to be the best player on the ice for Nashville – even when he’s at his best the Preds have a chance to lose!

Vancouver has looked dangerous in their last three game but one thing is certainly lacking – FINISH! The Canucks have peppered Corey Crawford and Pekka Rinne but only have six goals in their last four games. Every line had its moments for Vancouver is Game 1 which is a good sign.

Roberto Luongo was solid but wasn’t called upon too often in Game 1. Nashville vows to be better so Lou will be busier. I think he can handle it.

NHL Betting Trends:
Under is 12-2-2 in NAS last 16 vs. Northwest.
Under is 11-3-4 in NAS last 18 road games.
NAS are 13-6 in their last 19 overall.
Under is 12-3-1 in VAN last 16 home games.
VAN are 8-3 in their last 11 vs. Central.
Under is 18-7-1 in VAN last 26 vs. Central.
NAS are 5-11 in the last 16 meetings.

Betting Prediction: Game 1 was a letdown after watching the dazzling Chicago/Vancouver series. Vancouver is head and shoulders above the Preds in every facet of the Game. Nashville needs to outwork their rivals to be successful but Vancouver is the hardest working team in the NHL. Game 2 will belong to the Canucks as well!

Again, the Under might be a play here too. The Under is 11-3-1 in Nashville’s last 15 road games, is 7-1-1 in Vancouver’s last nine home games and is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings between the two clubs. Even thought the Total has come down a half a goal it’s still worth a shot!

Pick: Vancouver Canucks -200 and the Over – 5 goals
