Fortunes can swing from game to game during the playoffs as each series takes on its own personality and teams that once looked like sure fire bets to go all the way start to fall by the wayside. Back in March we previewed five teams to bet to win it all and two were already knocked off in the first round (Islanders and Blues).

You can check out that article here: http://www.capperspicks.com/blog/nhl/futures-odds-to-bet-on-2015-stanley-cup-20315/ if you haven’t already and also take a look at how the odds have changed from back in late March and see why making futures bets can be quite lucrative.

Maybe you’re still scratching your head and don’t quite know who to take to win it all, but how about just predicting a Stanley Cup finals match up?

Here are three match up picks that could net you a nice little return.

Washington Capitals vs Chicago Blackhawks (11/2)

The odds alone are worth throwing down a $10 bet based simply on the fact that both teams are leading their series at the moment and thus are one step closer to the finals than teams that are trailing their match ups.

The Blackhawks are the favourites to win it all right now, so most pundits feel good about them making it to the big dance which is all you need in this bet. The Capitals are where the risk comes from as they still have to get by a very tough Rangers team and either Montreal or Tampa Bay.

Washington leads their series with New York 2-1 but every game has been settled by a single goal and this series looks destined to be a seven gamer. With a round one series that went seven games already under their belts the Caps are going to be using a lot of gas just to get to the Eastern Conference final. This team plays the right way for this time of year though and have been getting the job done by being physical and disciplined in their own end.

New York Rangers vs Anaheim Ducks (7/1)

This match up was paying 9/2 just a day ago but with the Rangers dropping game three 1-0 the payout is a little juicier in this one. Get on this while you can before the Rangers tie this series up and you cost yourself some extra cash.

As far as the Ducks go there’s not much to say other than they’ve been dominant and are a perfect 6-0 in the post season. Add to that the fact that they have beaten the Flames 21 straight times at the Honda Center. With home ice advantage in this series they should be a lock to make a trip to the Western Conference final.

The Rangers are still the biggest threat in the East despite being down 2-1 in their series with the Caps but I expect them to level that series and make a push.

This is a team that has shown that when they get rolling they’re nearly unstoppable and if they can overcome this deficit they’re going to pick up momentum.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Anaheim Ducks (17/4)

We’ve been over why the Ducks are a good pick to be in the finals and all signs point to what should be an amazing series between them and Chicago in the Western Conference final.

Tampa is a team that many looked at as a very good dark horse pick and some shied away from. The reason for some hesitancy with the Lighting was that Detroit was a very tough first round match up and there was a good chance they could be knocked off in round one.

After beating the Wings in seven games Tampa have shown why they are a legit threat, mauling Montreal 6-2 in game two to take a 2-0 series lead heading back to Tampa.

If they are to get by Montreal, the semi final match ups are not too scary for Tampa who swept the Rangers in the season series 3-0 and played a tight season series with the Caps that they lost two games to one.
