The game will feature two of the best goaltenders in the league so far this young season – Craig Anderson will be matched up against Ryan Miller – goals should be hard to come by.

Ottawa

The Ottawa Senators looked good at times during their 5-3 loss to Toronto on Sunday but were unable to hold one-goal leads on three separate occasions.

The team is averaging a respectable 2.64 goals per game this season – Erik Karlsson continues to lead the way with 11 points in 14 games while Clark MacArthur has impressed with seven goals on the campaign thus far.

Karlsson and youngster Mark Stone each have six points in seven games, another rookie Mike Hoffman has three points in three games and Bobby Ryan has two points in his last two games. Kyle Turris scored his first goal Sunday – his offense is definitely necessary for the Senators going forward.

Ottawa’s success this season can be traced back to one man – goaltender Craig Anderson who lost 2-1 in a shootout Saturday but is still among one of the best keepers in the game statistically.

Anderson is 4-2-2 with a terrific 1.72 GAA and sensational .951 save percentage on the year. Ottawa has allowed 35.2 shots per game this year while averaging 30.8 shots per game – Anderson has had to be sharp.

Vancouver

The Vancouver Canucks absolutely have to feel good about their recent road trip through California and Colorado – a traditional grave yard for this team the past few seasons. Vancouver returns home having posted six of a possible eight points the last week and having won seven of their last nine games overall.

As it stands right now, Vancouver is just one point behind Anaheim for top spot in the uber-tough Pacific Division.

Radim Vrbata who sat out Sunday’s game with a leg injury should be back in the lineup Tuesday – his presence on Vancouver’s top line alongside the Sedins has been a boon for himself and the twins. He has six goals and seven assists so far although he has just one goal in his last six games overall.

Vancouver’s offense has been good – more like the team that went to the Cup final only a couple of short years ago.

The team is averaging nearly 3 goals per game and the power play is operating at 19.6% – far above the numbers that saw Vancouver struggle all of last season.

Nick Bonino has been terrific addition with seven goals and six assists so far, the Sedins have resembled the dominant players that Canucks fans have come to expect and there has even been some secondary scoring for this team. Things are going well up front for Vancouver and then there is…

[dfads params=’groups=64161&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Ryan Miller had been sensational for Vancouver before giving up five goals against Los Angeles Saturday. Miller won his previous seven starts with a 1.70 goals-against average before falling to the Kings over the weekend – expect a strong bounce back Tuesday.

NHL Gambling Trends

• Under is 8-2 in OTT last 10 road games.
• Over is 6-2 in OTT last 8 vs. Pacific.
• Under is 14-5 in OTT last 19 overall.
• VAN are 7-2 in their last 9 overall.
• VAN are 3-8 in their last 11 vs. Atlantic.
• Under is 5-2-1 in VAN last 8 overall.

The Vancouver Canucks have traditionally been poor in the first game back after a road trip – Canucks fans know what I mean.

NHL Betting 4* Free Play

I expect more of the same Tuesday – nobody will fault the Canucks for a letdown after an emotional four game trip.

Ottawa Senators +133

The Sens cool off the Canucks and reward their backers with a pretty nice payday.
