It promises to be an emotional affair as three former Rangers – Anton Stralman, Brian Boyle and former Captain Ryan Callahan play their first game against their former team and former Lightning Captain Martin St. Louis suits up for New York.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have been the hottest team in the NHL over the last two weeks – the team has gone 7-1-1 in their last nine games and sit just one point back of Montreal atop the Easter Conference standings.

The Lightning have been one of the top offensive clubs in the league this season and defensively they have been very good as well.
The Lightning enter Monday’s clash as the highest scoring team in the NHL – 66 goals so far – averaging 3.61 goals per contest. Cedric Paquette has four goals in five games for the Lightning, Steven Stamkos has three goals and three assists in his last six games and Ryan Callahan has six goals and seven assists in 13 games this season.
Eight Lightning players have at least 10 points on the season and seven players have five goals or more this year.
The Lightning are a handful offensively – nearly impossible to completely stop. New York has to hope to limit the goals against and has to get some solid play from a struggling offense.

That may be easier said than done however – goaltender Ben Bishop is 10-2-2 on the season with a 2.34 GAA and .918 save percentage this year. He is 5-0 with a 0.91 goals against average and two shutouts in five games against the Rangers.
The New York Rangers seem to be inventing new ways to lose unfortunately. Dan Boyle seemed to have scored the shootout winner last time out only to have the goal disallowed. The team was forced to come back out of the dressing room to resume the shootout which they eventually lost!
The Rangers have now gone four games without a win although they have recorded a point in their last three.
Offensively the Rangers have been OK – they score an average of 2.82 goals per game. Rick Nash continues to lead the way – a league leading 12 goals have gone along with seven assists on the year.
The problem?
No other Ranger has more than six goals.
That said Dan Griardi has three points in his last three games, Martin St. Louis has seven points in seven games, Mats Zuccarello has seven points in eight and Lee Stempniak has three points in his last four games.
Defensively the Rangers have been a bit of a disappointment in allowing 2.88 goals per game. Injuries have played a big part in it but the team is getting healthier which is a very good thing. Henrik Lundqvist is 7-4-3 on the years with a 2.51 GAA and .916 save percentage and has been coming around after a slow start to the year.

He is just 1-0-2 in his last three starts but does have a terrific 1.59 GAA and .950 save percentage in his last three starts overall.
