The teams are going in different directions – the Devils have gone 3-6-1 in their last 10 games while the Canucks have won 10 of their last 14 games overall.

The New Jersey Devils have fallen into an all-too-familiar goal scoring drought the last couple of weeks and their recent record is proof. The team has averaged just 2.00 goals per game in their last 10. They did score four Saturday night in a shootout loss to Calgary but overall this team has had a difficult time finding the back of the net.

The woes certainly aren’t a good sign when one of the better scoring teams is staring you straight in the face. The Devils have scored just seven total goals in their last five games against the Canucks to boot! Mike Cammalleri has just one point in his last four games, Michael Ryder has two points in eight games, Jaromir Jagr has one point in five games and Andy Greene is pointless in his last five. New Jersey has gone just 3-for27 in his last 10 games.

It’s a good thing for former Canucks goaltender Corey Schneider who got his first night off of the season Saturday. He will return to the net Tuesday riding a 3-2-0 stretch in which he has posted a terrific 1.41 GAA. He has never lost in regulation to the Canucks and has a good 2.36 GAA in two games against his former club.

The Vancouver Canucks have put the notion that the team is past its prime to bed – they are again among one of the better offensive teams in the league and they have 14 wins on the year. Off an impressive 4-1 win against the Blackhawks on Sunday night, Vancouver looks prime to make a run in the competitive Western Conference.

The Canucks are averaging 3.00 goals per game this season – second best in the Western Conference. Jannik Hansen registered his first NHL hat trick on Sunday, Radim Vrbata also scored and has four goals in three games, Daniel Sedin has four points in three games, Derek Dorsett has three points in two games and Chris Higgins has 12 points in his last 16 games. Vancouver has a secondary scoring depth that has been sadly lacking the last few years and may get a shot in the arm Tuesday when Alex Burrows returns to the lineup after a two game absence.

Ryan Miller figures to get he start in net Tuesday. He has an OK 2.63 GAA on the season but has a league best 13-3 record. Miller has played very well against New Jersey – he is 7-2-2 with a 1.54 GAA in his last 11 starts against the Devils.

NHL Gambling Trends

• Under is 22-9-4 in NJ last 35 vs. Pacific.
• NJ are 3-7 in their last 10 overall.
• NJ are 22-48 in their last 70 road games.
• VAN are 10-4 in their last 14 overall.

The Vancouver Canucks have won five straight games against the Devils while giving up just seven goals over that span. Expect more of the same Tuesday night. Not only have the Canucks as a team owned the Devils the last few seasons but Ryan Miller has done very well against New Jersey in the past. Offense will likely be a problem for the visiting team again. Take the Canucks to keep their impressive season going.
