The Jets had an impressive five game win streak come to an end Tuesday night in Vancouver and will likely be in tough again Thursday – Montreal has won 10 of the last 12 meetings between the teams.

The Canadiens lost 3-2 to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night but still hit the 100 point mark on the campaign for the second straight season – the Habs sit atop the Eastern Conference standings for a reason – they are darn good in both ends of the rink.

It is not like they will be intimidated heading out on the road – Montreal is 22-12-3 away from home- the third best mark in the NHL.

The Habs will be looking for a little consistency in the offensive zone as they head down the stretch – they have averaged just 2.00 goals per game in March – fifth worst in the NHL. The Habs patented depth has let them down a tad lately – Max Pacioretty has four points in a three-game run, Tomas Plekanec has seven in his last six for Montreal and Brendan Gallager has a goal in each of the last three games. Outside of those three, the Hot List is shockingly empty for the club.

Goaltender Dustin Tokarski will start, coach Michel Therrien announced Wednesday after practice according to the Canadiens website. Tokarski made 41 saves in his most recent start and is 1-0-1 with a 2.40 GAA and .931 save percentage in his last two starts.

Winnipeg catches a break Thursday – Carey Price will get the night off!

The Winnipeg Jets have been one of the great stories in hockey this year but they still have a ton of work to do. Winnipeg holds the second wild card into the playoffs from the Western Conference and trails the Minnesota Wild by one point; the Los Angeles Kings are two points behind Winnipeg and hold a game in hand.

The Jets hope to get Brian Little and Dustin Byfuglien back from injury Thursday – they have each missed nine games and could reasonably be back for Thursday’s crucial tilt. Blake Wheeler has 13 points over his last 11 games for the Jets, Drew Stafford has seven points in five games and Jiri Tlusty and Mark Stuart each have two points in their last two games. It is likely that the offense will have to be just OK Thursday – especially since they are slated to go back to…

Ondrej Pavelec has been remarkable between the pipes lately – he got the night off in Vancouver and should get the start Thursday. He was just named NHL First Star of the Week. Pavelec recorded a mark of 3-0-0 last week to go with a 0.97 goals against average and a .970 save percentage last week and gave up just one against Edmonton Monday. He looks to make it six straight wins Thursday against a team he has had his share of troubles with in the past.

Pavelec has registered a 3.74 GAA in dropping seven straight against Montreal – yuk!
