The Blackhawks have won five in a row against Edmonton and nine of the last 11 meetings while outscoring the Oilers by a 16-3 margin in their last three visits.

The Hawks beat the Wild last night while the Oilers, who had been 2-0-2 in four games, are coming off a 4-2 home loss to the Red Wings on Wednesday night.

The Chicago Blackhawks are who we thought they would be – a top team in the NHL – knocking on the door in their Division and in the Western Conference as well. One minor area of concern? The defense which looked good last night in Minnesota when they held the hot Wild to just two goals.

Prior to that game Corey Crawford had given up almost 3 goals per game in his previous eight starts – this after allowing just 1.87 in his first 18. Crawford is 3-0-0 with a 1.59 GAA in his last four games against the Oilers.

Crawford could get the night off in the second of back-to-back games Antti Raanta could get the start between the pipes – he is 6-2-0 on the season with a 1.73 GAA and .944 save percentage.

The Hawks will be fine whoever starts in goal particularly because of…

The Hawks offense has picked up the last couple of weeks – the team is now averaging 3.00 goals per game and a number of its stars are scorching hot. Patrick Kane has nine points (four goals) in his past six games,

Bryan Bickell scored twice last night and has four goals in five games, and Patrick Sharp has 12 points (seven goals) in 14 games. Brad Richard has found his groove as well – he had three assists last night. Kane has 23 points on a 13-game point streak in the series.

Expect the offense to continue for a team that scored seven in their last trip to Edmonton.

The Oilers have been playing a little better under Interim Coach Todd Nelson. He has preached pace and tempo and it seems to be working for the young team.

The team is still last in the overall standings and near the bottom in goals for (just 2.17 per game) but have scored 2.40 per game under Nelson and in goals against (an astounding 3.32 per game).

The offense looks as though it is going to have to carry this team and some of the young stars seem to be coming around.

Jordan Eberle scored twice against Detroit and has four goals and an assist in four games and Taylor Hall and Matt Hendricks each have two points in their last two games. Some production from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins would be nice – he has 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in nine meetings.

Expect Ben Scrivens to be back between the pipes after getting the night off Wednesday. He is 2-0-2 with a 1.99 GAA in his last five games – good numbers for this defensively challenged team.

[dfads params=’groups=64161&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

However Scrivens is 0-2-0 with a 5.86 GAA career against the Blackhawks.

NHL Gambling Trends

• Under is 7-1-3 in CHI last 11 road games.
• CHI are 19-7 in their last 26 overall.
• CHI are 7-3 in their last 10 road games.
• EDM are 3-13 in their last 16 home games.
• EDM are 13-40 in their last 53 overall.
• Over is 6-2-1 in EDM last 9 overall.
• CHI are 9-2 in the last 11 meetings in Edmonton.

It seems not a matter of if the Hawks will beat the Oilers in this one but how much they will win by! I`m banking on another easy win for Chicago – the Oilers are still bad and the Hawks are still one of the best.
