Free NHL Pick: Kings vs. Predators Betting Lines & Preview

L.A. vs Nashville Pick

NHL Betting action sees the Los Angeles Kings taking on the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, November 25th at Bridgestone Arena. Cappers Picks has free NHL handicapping tips all season long.

Tuesday’s match-up in Tennessee is a story of two clubs built for the modern NHL. The Kings need no introduction – a couple of Stanley Cups over the past few seasons prove that point.

But the Preds have burst back on the scene in a hurry, thanks to youth, good skating and solid goaltending.

Los Angeles has been predictably solid, but it’s Nashville with the points lead of the two clubs, 28 points to L.A’s 26. The Preds’ 13-5-2 record does not seem like a fluke under the stewardship of proven coach Peter Laviolette – a journeyman, though, with a respectable track record, I can’t imagine why.

The key to success in the Music City has been in a youth movement, primarily along the blueline. Seth Jones, Roman Josi and Ryan Ellis are all 24 or younger; they join with savvy vets Shea Weber and Anton Volchenkov to make a great D-corps.

It also doesn’t hurt that Finn goalie Pekka Rinne is finally healthy and back on form. Those factors result in Nashville ranking second in the NHL in goals against, yielding only 2.1 per game on average.

Rookie Filip Forsberg has been a revelation as a scorer; he joins a trio that has been deadly, with James Neal and the rebirth of vet Mike Ribeiro. The offensive punch will be further bolstered when Mike Fisher returns from injury.

This past offseason, the Preds finally jettisoned Barry Trotz, the only coach ever behind the bench in Nashville’s history, in charge since 1998 – an eternity for a modern head coach. It’s not that Nashville ever ceased to be a good team, I think they just needed a new voice after so many years.

What hasn’t been said about the reigning Stanley Cup champs, except that the future is now with youngsters like Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli leading the team’s scoring race.

If the scoring burden can be passed seamlessly from vets like Jeff Carter and Jason Williams to the young bucks, the Kings could be a Cup contender for a very long time.

Everyone knows that Kings goalie Jonathan Quick is an elite talent, but the SoCal do plenty of positive things other than between the pipes. Just look at defenseman Drew Doughty – a two-time Cup champion who has won at every level imaginable despite barely grazing his mid-20s.

Clearly, Los Angeles is a tough customer on any given night, but I expect the Preds to come out with valiant effort on home ice.

I’ll take the Predators to win a tight-checking contest in Nashville on Tuesday night.

Nashville 3, Los Angeles 1
