Steelers vs. Browns Sunday Night Football Preview

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns will meet at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Sunday and the Steelers are listed as 6½-point road team favorites and the total set by linesmakers is at 44½.

NFL Sunday Night Primer – Steelers vs. Browns

Pittsburgh sky rockets to the top of my Furious Seven with gumption after cutting Houston down at the knees. The Steelers look like the real deal on the field. They have an explosive offense that hung 38.0 points last weekend, and a stifling Steel Curtain that held the Texans to 75.0 yards per game on the ground.

Cleveland was supposed to be the usurpers to the throne in the AFC North, but fell flat on their dumb faces against Dallas. Are the Browns cursed by their own hype? Probably. Can they lift the hex and restore their honor to their name in the NFL betting community?

Pittsburgh Offense vs. Cleveland Defense

Big passes and bruising runs is how Pittsburgh killed the Texans last weekend. Big Ben Roethlisberger was precise with 13-of-14 passing and a modest 183 yards. He connected with Hines Ward for two scores, and while Cleveland’s defense improved mildly, those improvements weren’t in the secondary.

Dallas scorched firebombs through the skies in Cleveland with 320 yards passing, and if you don’t believe Pittsburgh can do the same, then you’re on something that I want a piece of.

Cleveland Offense vs. Pittsburgh Defense

Cleveland’s offense was horrifically normal last weekend. Throwing 114.0 passing yards is good if you’re a backup struggling to keep your team afloat, but if you’re Derek Anderson on a championship caliber team, then you need to do more. You won’t get that against Pittsburgh.

The Steelers locked down Houston, also an efficient passing team, down to 183.0 passing yards and 75.0 on the ground. Jamal Lewis, despite returning back to form, is nowhere near the basher he was years ago. He’ll have trouble breaking the Steel Curtain and affecting the game in any special way, which will kill any momentum they try to generate.

NFL Betting Trends

-Pittsburgh is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games
-Pittsburgh is 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 games against Cleveland
-Cleveland is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games
-Cleveland is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games at home
-The total has gone OVER in 5-of-6 when these two teams meet

Final Verdict

San Francisco was the overhyped team of 2007. Hello, Cleveland! Welcome to purgatory! Enjoy your beating at the hands of Pittsburgh as the degenerates foolish enough to continue to side with you get screwed over by the hype machine for a second week in a row.
