NFL Betting Breakdown – St. Louis Rams at Washington Redskins
There was a new regime, new parts and new optimism in St. Louis but all of that excitement quickly died down after one game. The Rams were shutout 28-0 and while the effort was there, they still got smacked around.
Meanwhile, the Redskins also had a discouraging performance as their offense looked disjointed and they couldn’t capitalize on good opportunities that their defense – and the New York Giants – created.

While neither team is an NFC contender, the Redskins are further along in their development.
What The Rams Have To Do To Win:
There’s no question that if the Rams are going to be winning football games this year, they are going to need more than 76 yards rushing from Steven Jackson. They’ll also need a much more efficient outing from Marc Bulger.
The Rams have invested a lot of money in their offensive line, bringing in free agents Jacob Bell and Jason Brown over the last two years, and spending first-round picks on Alex Barron and Jason Smith. This unit has to play better if the Rams are to win.
The Rams defense actually played well against Seattle but simple got worn down in the second half. Steve Spagnuolo has made this unit more competent and they should keep the Rams in football games this year.
What The Redskins Have To Do To Win:
For the Redskins to win, they are going to have to grow up as an offense. We’ve been waiting for the Redskins second-round picks from last year, Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly, to show us something, and we’ve been waiting for quarterback Jason Campbell to take a step up and play at a high level each week. He should be able to this week now that he’s back at home.
All around, though, this Redskins offense is very pedestrian. They should get better this week but the defense will have to carry them this year.
Advice On The Total:
Regardless of who the Redskins are playing right now, it doesn’t make sense to lay nine points. Their offense isn’t good enough and that can always be a problem when you lay double-digits.
The same can be said for the total. This will be a matchup of two teams with decent defenses but struggling offenses. It doesn’t make sense to play the over given who the teams are, even if it is a low total.
Pick: Rams +9.5 and Under 36.5

The Redskins are not that good of a team, but the Rams stink. Look for Washington to win this game something like 17-6.
