NFL Week 15: Packers vs. Steelers Predictions

The Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers will both be gunning for a victory on Sunday when they meet at Heinz Field. Oddsmakers currently have the Steelers listed as 1-point favorites versus the Packers, while the game’s total is sitting at 41…

NFL Betting Preview – Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Vegas just loves the Steelers. A two-point advantage over the Packers is absolutely ridiculous. If anything, this game should be a pick ‘em.

The Packers have fought back from obscurity to be a rightful NFC wildcard candidate while Pittsburgh is just reeling with no end in sight. Why would the oddsmakers give the Packers points in this one?

Green Bay is 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games and undefeated during that stretch. On the road they’re 5-2 ATS and 4-2 SU. Sure, against Pittsburgh they’re 2-5 SU in their last 7 matchups, but they haven’t played since 2005. These two teams have become much different squads all together.

Pittsburgh is heading in the completely opposite direction. They’re winless in their last five games overall, 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games at home and just 1-4 ATS overall in their last five outings overall. Ben Roethlisberger and the entire offense has simply stunk and the fact that they couldn’t get in the endzone against the Cleveland Browns, were chased and caught by the Raiders on the scoreboard, run out of the building against Baltimore, stunned by Kansas and derailed by the Bengals should tell you all you need to know about this team.

What? Am I suddenly supposed to think that they’re going to break out because their playoff hopes are dead? Don’t be ridiculous. Look at the caliber of teams they’ve faced in the last five games: Kansas, Oakland and Cleveland and they lost all those games. Are they suddenly supposed to wake up in Week 15 betting against the Packers? [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Green Bay Packers (9-4) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-7)
Sunday, December 20 th — Heinz Field, Pittsburgh — 4:15 pm EST
NFL Betting Line: Pittsburgh -2 (41)

The short answer is “definitely not”. Coach Mike Tomlin made a dastardly mistake saying that he’d “unleash hell”, putting an enormous amount of pressure on a team that had no viable rushing attack. Pittsburgh ranks 20 th in home rushing with 112.0 yards per game. You live and learn, Tomlin. You live and learn.

Meanwhile, Green Bay is just a team that knows how to win. They’ve done it against all sorts of team too and in my system I have the Packers winning this game by over ten points. Seriously. That’s how bad the Steelers are playing right now. I know it’s a huge swing and a lot to ask for, but Pittsburgh hasn’t gotten it done against teams that rank defensively in the low-twenties. Overall, Green Bay is ranked 11 th and their rush defense is 1 st on the road. Chuck that kind of defense in with a balanced offense that can sneak up on you and this game is a wash. Take the Pack with the points.
