NFL Game Capsules – Week 9

Week 9 in the NFL is in the books. The Weisguy takes over for Matt and offers up these recaps for your NFL viewing pleasure.

Dallas 23 – Seattle 13

No surprise about the outcome but if we are supposed to believe that Dallas is any good than shouldn’t beat the Seawhawks by more?  Another strong game by DeMarco Murray is a good sign though.

Atlanta 31 – Indianapolis 7

Another non-shocker.  Atlanta took care of business.  The best thing was seeing rookie Julio Jones back in the lineup and making some big plays.  This team is definitely trending upward right now and will challenge the Saints in the NFC South

New York Jets 23 – Buffalo 11

Huge AFC East game and only one team showed up – J-E-T-S.  Big disappointment for Bills fans who have to be wondering if they are about to be overtaken in the now very crowded AFC East.

Houston 30 – Cleveland 12

Houston is continuing to get fat on bad teams and this time it was Cleveland.  The game was essentially over by halftime with Arian Foster and Ben Tate running all over the Browns.  Both eclipsed 110 yards in the blowout.

San Francisco 19 – Washington 11

The final score may not show it but this game was not really that close.  The Redskins had the final score of the game and completed a 2 point conversion.  Still I was hoping to see a more dominant performance by San Fran.  They keep winning but I still feel unsure about how good this team really is.

New Orleans 27 – Tampa Bay 16

Very solid rebound effort for the Saints.  They needed this one to get right again and they were in control against a Bucs team that beat them just a few weeks ago.  These guys are always tough at home.

Miami 31 – Kansas City 3

What a weird season.  Miami has been close a couple of times but this week they tore through in whipping Kansas City.  It’s like nobody wants to win the AFC West this season with all three teams tied at the top losing.

Cincinnati 24 – Tennessee 17

I was super hot on the Bengals coming into this one and they didn’t disappoint.  A solid road victory led by an error free performance by QB Andy Dalton.  They need to watch those penalties though against tougher competition because it is coming.

Denver 38 – Oakland 24

It was like being with the Gators all over again for Tim Tebow.  The passing stats were ho-hum but he picked up 118 yards on the ground and didn’t turn the ball over.  Another 3 picks for Carson Palmer doomed the Raiders, again. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

New York Giants 24 – New England 20

A great late comeback for New York who was up early but frittered it away.  Surprisingly turnovers were a huge factor for the Patriots as they gave it up 4 times. Two weeks in a row the Pats have looked off…concern?

Green Bay 45 – San Diego 38

The Packers are showing week after week that they are just going to win.  It wasn’t a pretty defensive effort but this game really wasn’t that close with SD scoring the final 14 points.  Aaron Rodgers delivered another gem with 4 TDs through the air; meanwhile Phillip Rivers was brutal with two pick 6s

Arizona 19 – St. Louis 13

And so begins the legend of Patrick Peterson.  After a boring 60 minutes in which it seems no team wanted to win, the rookie corner returned a punt 99 yards in overtime, winning it for the Cardinals and saving the franchise from embarrassment – at least for another week.  Man that NFC West is bad.

Baltimore 23 – Pittsburgh 20

You knew this one was going to be close.  It was a huge one and Joe Flacco showed his mettle by hooking up with Torrey Smoth for the winning TD with just 9 seconds to go.  A great result for Baltimore who now has command of the AFC North with two victories over the Steelers.

Chicago 30 – Philadelphia 24

Is this finally the end of the Eagles season.  I give some credit to the Bears but again the Eagles, with all that dreamy talent frittered away a game they should have won late.  Bears are where the Eagles were supposed to be in the conference standings.
