Wheel out the guillotine. It’s time to look at what coaches could bite the dust. Hello there, Wade Phillips. Come out from behind that couch, Marv Lewis. Jack Del Rio, is that you with your back turned?

Don’t be shy there, Norv Turner, put down that playbook.

Mike Singletary, maybe you should stop talking about the playoffs and figure out a way to win one game.

And Brad Childress — Brett called and he wants his car washed.

To the rankings:

  • New York Jets (Last week 1) – Must have been tough for Rex Ryan to be out of the spotlight during the Jets’ bye week.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers (2) – After that call last Sunday, the Steelers forfeit all rights to complain about officiating.
  • New York Giants (4) – These guys are building up a head of steam, but still have 5 NFC East division games left on the schedule.
  • Indianapolis Colts (3) – Injuries piling up like cordwood as Colts face the Texans in Indianapolis in an important AFC South game.
  • New England Patriots (5) – The next coach tempted to use the prevent defense to preserve a lead should be forced to watch the Patriots in the second half of the Charger game.
  • Philadelphia Eagles (6) – At least the quarterback decision will be easy for Andy Reid this week.
  • Tennessee Titans (9) – Kenny Britt 10 catches, 3 TDs, 225 receiving yards.  Who the hell is he?
  • Baltimore Ravens (7) – Yes, a win is a win, but the Ravens defense lost a lot of street cred in that victory over Buffalo.
  • New Orleans Saints (8) – Stuff happens. The Saints won’t run away in the South like they did last year, but they’ll be in the hunt right to the end.
  • Kansas City Chiefs (14) – Matt Cassel critics are taking a bite of crow this week: 13/18, 193 yards, 2 TDs and 144.0 QB rating against Jacksonville.
  • Miami Dolphins (10) – 3-0 on the road and 0-3 in Miami. Maybe the Dolphins should take the team on a plane ride and fly back into Miami the day before the next home game.
  • Atlanta Falcons (12) – They can win the NFC, but would anyone be shocked if these guys go 9-7 or 8-8?
  • Green Bay Packers (16) – For want of a better alternative, looks like Packers are favorites – again – in the NFC North. At least until they get spanked by the Jets this weekend.
  • Seattle Seahawks (19) – Season turns on the next four games (at Oakland, home vs. the Giants, at Arizona and at New Orleans.
  • Bet on Football at Sportsbook.com

  • Houston Texans (13) – Texans used the bye week trying to stiffen a defense that ranks 31st overall and 32nd against the pass.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (20) – Having St. Louis and 2.5, a personal thank-you to the Bucs for that failed 2-poinnt conversion after their game-winning touchdown.
  • Chicago Bears (11) – Bears ran the ball only 12 times in a loss to the Seahawks. You get that every now and then when Mike Martz calls your plays.
  • Arizona Cardinals (15) – You spend the entire offseason working on ways to improve your running game, and Tim Hightower has put the ball on the ground 4 times already this season. Sometimes you can’t win for losing.
  • Oakland Raiders (26) – Too bad it was a day game and Vampire Al was in his coffin during the biggest win in his team’s history.
  • Washington Redskins (18) – Isn’t it about this time of year that Native Americans do something to try force the Redskins to change their nickname?
  • Jacksonville Jaguars (17) — Jags are suffering from defensive dementia – only team to give up 200 points already this season.
  • St. Louis Rams (21) – From late in the first half until the final whistle, the Rams played not to lose against Tampa Bay. So unlike Steve Spagnuolo.
  • Minnesota Vikings (22) – So Brad Childress lets the class clown do anything he wants, and now he can’t get control of the classroom. Does Favre call it quits if he gets beat up in New England this coming Sunday?
  • Cincinnati Bengals (23) – With all the focus on the wide receivers and Carson Palmer’s poor season, don’t overlook the defense, which has regressed.
  • San Diego Chargers (24) – There is some good news. The entire offense has accepted major roles in the new move Jackass 3.
  • Cleveland Browns (30) – The win over New Orleans means cancellation of the winner-take-all game against Brown University.
  • Detroit Lions (28) – Best team in the league against the number.
  • Denver Broncos (25) – Hope Josh had the Over against Oakland.
  • Dallas Cowboys (27) – Your quarterback’s arm is in a sling, your owner is shaking his head and your coach has Allied Van Lines on speed dial. Having some fun now, aren’t we?
  • San Francisco 49ers (29) – Apparently they aren’t who we thought they were.
  • Carolina Panthers (32) – Give Steve Smith credit for taking one for the team – volunteering to return punts.
  • Buffalo Bills (31) – A for effort, guys, but this is a bottom line business, and guess who’s at the bottom?
