Here’s a look at five favorites and five underdogs worthy of a closer gambling eye in Week 4.
NFL Gambling – Week 4 Favorites
Miami Dolphins at Oakland Raiders
Week 4 NFL Spread: Dolphins -4
The Dolphins keep showing flashes of how good they are capable of being but can never seem to put that on display on any consistent basis. That at least allows us to get in at a very favorable number this weekend when they take on a terrible Raiders team.
Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears
Week 4 NFL Spread: Packers -1.5
The Packers’ aerial attacks has been missing in action in two of the first three weeks of the season, but a date with a Bears team that has endured injury after injury on the defensive side of the ball should be just what the doctor order for Aaron Rodgers and co.

Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans
Week 4 NFL Spread: Texans -3
The Texans fell flat on their faces a week ago, but there’s still a lot to like about this team, and it starts with their solid defense, which should stifle the Bills’ ground game and force EJ Manuel to beat them. The Bills already have a win on the road, but they’re still a bad road team.
Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings
Week 4 NFL Spread: Falcons -2.5
The Falcons have been night and day when it comes to their play at the Georgia Dome and away from the Georgia Dome, but they’ll still be playing in a dome here, and the fast track should help the team’s talented wide receivers get in behind the Vikings defense, even if Minnesota is able to pick up some points of its own on the ground.
New Orleans Saints at Dallas Cowboys
Week 4 NFL Spread: Saints -3

The Saints made the Cowboys look absolutely silly when these teams met a year ago, as the Dallas defense had absolutely no answer for the Saints’ offensive attack. The venue changes for this one but the cozy confines of Cowboys Stadium should suit Drew Brees and co. just fine.
NFL Gambling – Week 4 Underdogs
Carolina Panthers at Baltimore Ravens
Week 4 NFL Spread: Panthers -3
The Ravens have been far better at home than they have been on the road under John Harbaugh, but the team lost another big weapon on Sunday when Dennis Pitta went down. Joe Flacco relies heavily on his ground game and on his safety valves, and right now he may not have either. Not a recipe for success when going up against one of the league’s top defenses.
Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts
Week 4 NFL Spread: Titans +7.5
This Titans team doesn’t have a lot of talent on offense, and they aren’t making proper use of the talent they do have, but the Colts aren’t all that great either, yet Titans backers are getting better than a touchdown in this divisional matchup.
Jacksonville Jaguars at San Diego Chargers
Week 4 NFL Spread: Jaguars +13.5

Double-digit favorites in the NFL have a horrible track record, as the Patriots showed a week ago. While there isn’t a whole lot to like about the Jaguars at the moment, the team made a big move at quarterback going from Chad Henne to Blake Bortles, which should really give a boost to the team’s offense.
Philadelphia Eagles at San Francisco 49ers
Week 4 NFL Spread: Eagles +5.5
The Eagles have been king of the comebacks, while the 49ers have been plagued by some terrible fourth quarter performances, so if nothing else, the possibility of a backdoor cover will remain alive throughout the day in this one. Also, the Eagles have played better on the road.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Pittsburgh Steelers
Week 4 NFL Spread: Buccaneers +7
There hasn’t been a whole lot to like about the start the Buccaneers have had to this season. In fact, there’s probably nothing to like about it. But they’re finally making the right move at quarterback by bringing in Mike Glennon, and the extra week of prep time should help Lovie Smith figure things out, and get running back Doug Martin healthy in time to gash a depleted Steelers defense.
