NFL Week 3 “Insider Betting”

Week three of the NFL season is upon us and there are some tantalizing picks to be made this week. The Atlanta Falcons did their part in the Thursday night game, covering the spread and the over by themselves in a 56-14 destruction of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There could be a few more blow outs to come this weekend so make sure you’re cashing in on those opportunities.

This is usually the week where you can start to make some cash ins if your first two weeks have gone down in flames. We’ve had a chance to see every team at least once and are starting to get a bit of a clearer picture of who is a contender and who is a pretender.

Let’s make sure you get the most bang for your buck with these five can’t miss games for week three.

San Diego vs Buffalo

Week 3 Odds Bills -2.5

True to their form, the Bills have started out the season by giving their fans a ray of hope that this will be the year that they finally break from being a punchline in the NFL joke book.

I don’t think the Bills go into free fall quite yet, but this week looks like one that they’re ripe to get picked off. The Chargers are quietly one of the better teams in the AFC and have the luxury of Denver in their division, taking a lot of spotlight off of them.

[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The Chargers were downright brilliant last week against the reigning champion Seahawks. San Diego trailed after the first quarter but struck back with an early score in the second quarter to regain the lead and never relinquished it after that. Their slow and methodical approach on offense kept Seattle’s vaunted defense on the field for long stretches and they wore them out in the California heat.

San Diego won’t have the advantage of the hot weather this week as they travel to the northeast, but their style of play on offense and underrated defense will stifle the undefeated Bills.

Week 3 NFL Pick: The Chargers will get to 2-1 this week, and the Bills will fall to the same record. With San Diego coming off a big win over a tough opponent they’ll be riding high, while the Bills won a laugher against a pretty underwhelming Miami team a week ago. Go with the Chargers

Baltimore vs Cleveland

Week 3 Odds Ravens -1.5 (O/U 41)

The Browns have to be riding higher than almost anyone this week. A gut wrenching loss in week one to the Steelers was followed up by a massive upset win over the Saints in week two, to bring the Browns back to .500.

With Cincinnati looking like the early favourite to run away with the division, the Browns, Ravens and Steelers are going to have to scrap it out all year to stay in the hunt for a wildcard.

TOP SPORTSBOOKS

As with many AFC North battles of days gone by I expect this to be a scrappy affair, without too much scoring to speak of. Rain is in the forecast for Cleveland this Sunday, which should make for a grind it out style game, where field position and field goals will be at a premium. The Ravens moved the ball well against Pittsburgh in their week two game but the red zone offense was awful and they had trouble finishing drives.

Week 3 NFL Pick: The Browns D will finally get the credit it deserves after this game and teams will not be taking them lightly. Picking a winner in this one is too close to call but with the forecast of rain and a pair of teams that don’t have an easy time scoring points, I like the under in this one, predicted score: 20-16.

Indianapolis vs Jacksonville

Week 3 Odds Colts -7

Colts by seven? Yes please. You can take a look at a more thorough analysis of this game here http://www.capperspicks.com/blog/author/matt-durnan/

The Jags “boast” one of the worst defenses in the league to this point and are giving up tons of yards and points. They haven’t kept a game within 17 points yet in their two games they’ve played. The Colts are going to have a fire under them after the first back to back losses of QB Andrew Luck’s career and their first 0-2 start since 2011.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Not much to say on this one other than it looks like pretty easy money. If you can get on this one while the spread is still at 7 then get on it immediately.

Week 3 NFL Pick: Colts, by a whole bunch of points, they should have the seven more than covered by halftime and cruise to a two or three score victory.

Dallas vs St. Louis

Week 3 Odds Cowboys -1

This is essentially a pick’em game with a measly one point spread and I think you could toss a coin to decide on a winner here. The Cowboys are the better team on the offensive side of the ball, but St. Louis has the edge when it comes to defense.

Both of these teams bounced back from pretty ugly losses in week one, with convincing wins in week two. The Cowboys trounced the favoured Titans by a count of 26-10, while the Rams squeaked out a narrow 19-17 win over the awful Buccaneers on a last minute field goal.

Tony Romo looks like a different QB when he’s on the road and doesn’t have the pressure of the home crowd on him and Dallas’ run game woke up in a big way against the Titans last week with DeMarco Murray eating up 167 yards on the ground and a TD.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Week 3 NFL Pick: Dallas hasn’t lost on the road and St. Louis hasn’t won at home (I know it’s only been one game of each). Dallas is just the better team in this one, which won’t be the case in too many games this year. I like the Cowboys to win this one and get to 2-1.

Tennessee vs Cincinnati

Week 3 Odds Bengals -7

The Bengals at home are a machine. They finished the season a perfect 8-0 at home last year and in their home opener this year they wiped out the Atlanta Falcons with relative ease.

This wasn’t a weak Falcons team either; this was a Falcons team that outscored the Saints in a shootout and absolutely demolished Tampa. In Cinci however, Atlanta could muster just 10 points on 309 total yards.

The Bengals racked up nearly 500 yards last week against Atlanta and never really looked to be at any sort of risk of losing control of the game. The Titans are a bit of a mystery to this point, after beating up on Kansas City on the road, they turned around and got beat at home pretty handily by Dallas.

Week 3 NFL Pick: I don’t think the Titans have the weapons to either keep pace with the Bengals, or expose the Cinci D. The Bengals have won their two games by a combined 21 points and they should cover in this one. Go with the Bengals to win by at least 10.
