NFL Game Capsules Week 11

Week 11 in the NFL is in the books. The Weisguy takes over for Matt and offers up these recaps for your NFL viewing pleasure.

Denver 17 – New York Jets 13

This is what happens when you don’t put teams away, especially if they are led by Tim Tebow.  The Promised One leads another late comeback that has the Broncos in the race in the AFC West.

Oakland 27 – Minnesota 21

A couple of late scores by the Vikings make this one look closer than it was.  The Raiders has this game put away by halftime, cruising while maintaining their lead in the AFC West.  They are looking more and more like the horse to back.

Miami 35 – Buffalo 8

Break up the Dolphins right?  Buffalo has lost three in a row after being horribly outplayed again.  Two teams heading in opposite directions.  Kudos to Miami for refusing to lay down after horrific start.

Baltimore 31 – Cincinnati 24

Important win for the Ravens and a tough loss for the Bengals.  As a fan I am happy the Bengals hung in there and hope they won’t fall apart from here on out.  Ravens back in control of division.

Cleveland 14 – Jacksonville 10

A stinker of a matchup produced a game that had little to get excited about.  The Browns won because they converted their chances while the Jag, led by Blaine Gabbert, could not.  Running Chris Ogbannaya was a nice story with more than 100 yards on the ground.

Dallas 27 – Washington 24

Most pundits were saying don’t sleep on the Skins against the rival Cowboys and they were right.  Still Dallas came through with a must have win to keep their playoff hopes arrive.  Rex Grossman looked pretty good in return to lineup. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Green Bay 35 – Tampa Bay 26

We don’t get the battle of the Bays as often as we used to which is too bad based on yesterday’s game.  This was a two point battle until the Packers scored late and the Bucs outstatted the Pac by 75 yards.

Detroit 49 – Carolina 35

It was a typical slow start for Detroit who found themselves down 24-7 midway through the 2nd quarter.  In the second half they roared back scoring 5 TD with Matt Stafford having a great day despite lingering injuries.  Kevin Smith was a revelation in the running game with 140 yards.

San Francisco 23 – Arizona 7

Wow the Niners play great.  I know it was just Arizona but they help them to 229 total yards and scoreless for 3 and a half quarters.  They were in complete control forcing 5 turnovers.  Anytime their defense plays like that Alex Smith and the offense don’t have to do much.

Seattle 24 – St. Louis 7

Neither team played particularly well which is why it is so surprising that the score was so lopsided.  The biggest difference was on the ground where Marshawn Lynch had some success while Steven Jackson did not – gaining almost half of his scant 42 yards on one play.

Chicago 31 – San Diego 20

When will I learn.  I have been burned by the Chargers all season long so I really shouldn’t be surprised by the results.  But still, what is up with Rivers?  Sorry Chicago, you played another very solid game especially defensively.  Can you keep it up without Cutler?

Atlanta 23 – Tennessee 17

The Falcons were up 20 and then held on as Jake Locker rallied the Titans to within 6.  Depending on the number you hat Atlanta at you might have been happy or feeling nautious.  Another no show performance by Chris Johnson.

Philadelphia 17 – New York Giants 10

I am not sure this gets the Eagles back into the race but this team certainly likes to keep us guessing.  This week it was all about defense for Philly.  Vince Young threw three picks in tge game so it is hard to say that he led them to victory in Vick’s absence.

New England 34 – Kansas City 3

At the end of the first we had a game but after that it was all Patriots as they scored 34 unanswered points.  Gronk now only second to Megatron in TD catches.
