NFL Underdogs To Bet On – 2016 Super Bowl Gambling Odds

Betting NFL Futures?

The 2015-16 NFL season will conclude with Super Bowl 50 taking place in the San Francisco Bay Area. We have a solid idea of who the favorites are to make it to the game’s biggest stage, but who are the underdogs that could have a puncher’s chance to shock the world when it’s all said and done?

NFL Handicapping Insight

So what defines an underdog? For starters, a team cannot fall within the top five when it comes to championship odds. In our book, those teams are considered dogs without question.

But first, here are our sleepers to bet entering next season.

Philadelphia Eagles (20/1)

The Philadelphia Eagles currently have the seventh-best odds to win the 2016 Super Bowl. That doesn’t exactly spell traditional underdog. But here’s the catch: We truly have no idea what to expect after a summer that saw Chip Kelly orchestrate so much change.

This group could come out and prove that the talent was not only upgraded this offseason, but has jelled nicely and is a cohesive unit from Week 1. However, we could also see a hodgepodge of a roster struggle to acclimate to new conditions.

Although not true sleepers, this team could go one way or the other by the time the year has concluded. But while we don’t know which direction that will be, we know this: You’d be remiss to ignore them.

Minnesota Vikings (33/1)

The Minnesota Vikings managed to go 7-9 last season, which was actually quite the accomplishment if you consider the unexpected loss of Adrian Peterson. This season, it’s ready for one of two things to happen.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Either the team is going to re-welcome Peterson to the roster, returning someone who could very well still prove to be one of the best running backs in the league if healthy and cooperative. Worst-case scenario (as unlikely as it seems), Minnesota chalks this situation up as a loss and gets something in return via trade.

Either way, this team is going to be better than it was in 2014-15, which could result in a few extra wins.

Miami Dolphins (33/1)

The Miami Dolphins are making a surprising push up the rankings when it comes to Super Bowl 50 odds.

The biggest acquisition of the summer comes in the form of Ndamukong Suh. The behemoth of a defensive lineman will terrify opposing offenses all over the AFC East, and as long as Ryan Tannehill lives up to his contract, this team will have a chance to surprise people.

Especially if the Patriots struggle during Tom Brady’s suspension.

Houston Texans (50/1)

The Houston Texans are another team getting attention as a possible sleeper. Last season, this group compiled a 9-7 record despite the inconsistency we saw with the team starting four different quarterbacks on the year.

This season, Houston will have a great defense, possibly even with Jadeveon Clowney suited up. If the team can find consistency on offense, it will be the complement this defense needs to get back into contention.

St. Louis Rams (50/1)

The St. Louis Rams have the seventh-worst odds to win the Super Bowl this season. They’re in fourth-to-last place when it comes to NFC Conference odds, and dead last when it comes to the NFC West.

Although the Rams epitomize the underdog notion, there’s promise with one of the NFL’s best defenses returning, mixed with newcomer Nick Foles ready to suit up at quarterback.

The Rams also have the benefit of playing in the NFC West. A couple of years ago, that was a death wish for this crew, but times have changed, as the Seattle Seahawks appear to be the only true hurdle at this point in the process.
