Superbowl 46 Betting Online – 2011 Ravens Season Preview

The Baltimore Ravens have been the bridesmaid in the AFC North the past three seasons, with three straight wildcard berths and three straight exits from the playoffs after losing a game on the road. Head Coach John Harbaugh has done an excellent job in building a team that is more than capable of scoring points on offense, and extremely good at shutting teams down on defense.

NFL 2011 Team Preview and Odds – Baltimore Ravens
Odds to win the AFC North +120
Odds to win the AFC +650
Odds to win the Super Bowl +1500

The big question that remains to be answered is this the season that it all finally comes together for Baltimore to get back to its first Super Bowl since 2001?

Ravens Super Bowl Lines & Predictions

Quarterback Joe Flacco has taken some heat for his past performance in the playoffs, but the fourth-year vet out of Delaware is still one of the best when it comes to managing the game. He is not as flashy as some of the other QB’s in the AFC, but he finished the 2010 season ranked in the top 10 in both completion percentage (62.6) and overall rating (93.6).

The real strength of this offense lies in a rushing attack that averaged over 114 yards a game behind Ray Rice’s 1,220 yards. The Ravens just enhanced this with the signing of All-Pro FB Vonto Leach, who led the way for Arian Foster in Texas last season.

It has never been in question that the defense is the heart and soul of this team. Once again led by 16-year veteran Ray Lewis, Baltimore finished the 2010 season ranked 10th overall and third in points allowed. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

In an effort to inject not only some depth but some youth into the lineup, the Ravens used their first pick in the draft to select CB Jimmy Smith, out of Colorado.

They will also have last year’s No.1 pick, LB Sergio Kindle back after he missed the entire 2010 season with a head injury.

Baltimore will find out pretty quick if it is ready to finally take the top spot in the division with an opening day game at home against Pittsburgh.

They both finished 12-4 last year and split their two regular season games, but the Steelers won the North on a division-record tie-breaker. This gave Pittsburgh the home field advantage necessary to gain the edge in a 31-24 victory over the Ravens in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

An early win over their dreaded rivals could set the stage for a run that takes them all the way to Indianapolis in early February.
