Superbowl 46 Betting Online – 2011 Falcons Season Preview

The Atlanta Falcons won the NFC South last season with a 13-3 record, which also happened to be the best record in the conference, but that may actually work against them this year.

Odds to win the NFC 15/2
Odds to win the Super Bowl 15/1

Since the realignment of the NFL divisions in starting in 2002, a different team has won the South in each of the nine seasons.

The Falcons also need to find a way to get past a disappointing 48-21 loss to Green Bay in last season’s Divisional Round as a one-point home favorite.

Falcons Super Bowl Lines & Predictions

Atlanta will have pretty much the same roster on offense as last season. It will once again be led by quarterback Matt Ryan, who is entering his fourth season in the NFL.

He posted the best numbers of his career last season with 3,705 yards passing and a completion percentage of 62.5. He will have a new target to throw the ball to with first-round pick Julio Jones joining Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez in the receiving corps.

Running back Michael Turner will lead the ground game along with Jason Snelling and fifth-round pick Jacquizz Rodgers. This combination of talent has helped make Atlanta one of the best balanced offenses in the league.

The Falcons’ defense finished the 2010 season ranked 16th overall and 22nd against the pass, but were ranked fifth in the most important category; points allowed. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

They did little this offseason to address some of the concerns on this side of the ball, but did manage to sign defensive end Ray Edwards, who recorded 16.5 sacks in his last two seasons in Minnesota.

Edwards should be able to step in right away to help a defense that only tallied 31 sacks in 2010.

The NFC South could end up being one of the most hotly contested division races in the league this year with three teams that won at least 10 games last season.

Atlanta will remain in the thick of things right down to back-to-back games against New Orleans and Tampa Bay to close out the regular season, but for the 10th year in-a-row there will be a new team on top in this division.

2011 Prediction: 10-6 and second in the NFC South

Falcons is going to win at least 11 or more games because our running game looks more decent since we have back up after back up to help one another out and julio jones and tony and roddy that’s a problem how are u going to cover all 3 when julio is one fast reciever and healthy roddy is a reciever with the hands of spider man tony with hops of jordan and julio with the combination both & for our defense we have ray edwards and john abraham which sacks combine makes 29.5 sacks that’s amazing and brent grimes whose getting better every year william moore the hard hitter and dunta robison is recovered from injury as well as keath weatherspoon its the team that falcons needed in 98 and 99 to win the super bowl ^_^
