Seattle Seahawks 2015 Gambling Odds & Handicapping Preview

2015 Seattle Predictions

The Seattle Seahawks enter the 2015-16 NFL Season with yet another target on their backs. Not only have they been to back-to-back Super Bowls, but they are an incredibly balanced team with a defense that makes the world ‘elite’ seem like an understatement.

NFL Futures

2014 Record: 12-4 – Seahawks
Seahawks Odds to win the 2016 NFC West Division: -225
Seahawks Odds to win the 2016 NFC Conference: 7/2
Seahawks Odds to win the 2016 Super Bowl: 13/2

If there was any particular concern for this group entering 2015-16, it was the contract situation surrounding Russell Wilson. Would they get a deal done? Would it continue to be a distraction?

As it turns out, we can cast that narrative aside, as the franchise quarterback has gotten his money, and both parties can shake hands, smile and continue winning football games at a high level.

Although the story with this group has been defense the past couple of seasons — and will continue to be in 2015-16 — you can’t overlook the fact that Seattle managed to add a significant weapon on the offensive side of the ball. Jimmy Graham is officially on board in Seattle, and as Graham himself has recognized, blocking is going to be a huge part of his responsibility with this organization.

Bbut let’s be honest — he’ll be a nice dump-off crutch for Wilson while scrambling to the outside as well. In the red zone, he’ll be a nice big target. This is a dangerous offensive group with Graham and Wilson on the same page, but don’t forget that Beast Mode will still be a focus of the offense, giving opposing defenses nightmares when it comes to figuring out whom to cover on a play-to-play basis.

Then, of course, there’s the defense. Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas are arguably the best at their respective positions, and the complementing pieces surrounding them are nothing to scoff at either. The one piece of bad news is that they’ve lost their defensive coordinator to a head coaching gig in Atlanta.

The good news is that this is a narrative they’ve seen in recent years already, so there should be no fear of a letdown at this point in the process.

Seahawks Betting Outlook:

Seattle had better be ready to not just win football games this season, but win them against tough competition under the bright lights. Not only do the Seahawks have the fourth-toughest schedule in the entire NFL, but they have five night games, beginning with a team in Week 2 that is looked at as the Super Bowl favorites in many books: The Green Bay Packers.

Overall, it’s difficult to see this team not performing at contender levels in 2015-16. With Graham on board, the team has essentially filled the one spot it has needed to fill while still making back-to-back Super Bowls, winning one and coming within inches of winning another.

What it comes down to is this: The NFC West is Seattle’s to lose. The win total for this team is 11 at this juncture, but 12 seems like a reasonable number if the squad can handle those late-night games in front of national television audiences.

Home-field advantage will be crucial come playoff time, which is why the difference between 11 and 12 wins could make a huge difference. Look for this team to take the NFC West and make a serious push for its third-straight Super Bowl.
