Season Win Totals NFL Predictions – Oakland Raiders 2015 Lines

Raiders Over Under Wins Betting Odds

The Oakland Raiders went 3-13 during the 2014-15 NFL season, which put them in dead last in the AFC West Division. Although exceeding a three-win year won’t be difficult — and should ultimately come to fruition — coming anywhere near competing for a divisional title is beyond a pipe dream at this point in the process.

Raiders Over Under Lines

2014 Record: 3-13
2015 O/U Win Total Line: 5.5 Games
Oakland

At this point in the offseason, the Raiders are in last place when it comes to early AFC West Divisional odds (+1200). They’re ahead of the Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars when it comes to AFC Conference odds (33/1), and 27th when it comes to Super Bowl odds (66/1).

One factor that could very well determine the success of Oakland this season is Derek Carr. The quarterback averaged just 5.5 yards per attempt last season, which was the worst of any QB in the NFL.

The Raiders can hang their hat on the fact that Carr actually has the arm strength to get the ball downfield, and his raw numbers were solid (21 TD, 12 INT). Having a threat in Amari Cooper should help him take his game to another level, especially considering he also has an improved offensive line, and is just 24 years old.

Defensively, the Raiders must begin to maximize Khalil Mack. He’s arguably, if definitively the best player on that side of the ball, and as NFL.com’s Conor Orr stated, this could be Mack’s year.

“Mack suffered a bit in terms of public perception due to some relatively low sack numbers (4),” Orr stated. “But now that he’s playing for a more imaginative defensive coordinator on a team that should take a major leap forward in 2015, all the basic ingredients for more sacks should be in place. (Example: There’s a chance the Raiders are leading a few more games in the fourth quarter this year, resulting in more obvious passing downs for Mack to take advantage of.)”

The question here, as it is with all teams entering a new season, is: How many wins can we expect (especially coming from a team that managed just three all last year)?

2015 Oakland Raiders Season Win Betting Prediction

Bet on Under 5.5 Games (EVEN)

When you say that a team is going to threaten to double its wins from the previous season, you’re rarely talking about a middling squad turning elite.

You’re almost talking about a team stuck in the basement of the league that is finally threatening to escape into a tier that is just a smidgen above where they were on year prior.

That’s exactly where the Raiders find themselves at this juncture.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Six wins isn’t unreasonable for this group, especially if Carr can establish an early connection with Cooper. The two of them have potential to become a heck of a pass-catch tandem, but you’re likely looking at a long-term partnership rather than a quick fix in Oakland.

Look for this group to exceed its wins by two this season, falling just short of the 5.5 projected heading into training camp.
