Chiefs Over Under Wins Betting Odds

The Kansas City Chiefs went 9-7 during the 2014-15 NFL season, which was good enough for a tie with the San Diego Chargers for second place in the AFC West Division.

Last season saw the Chiefs miss the postseason, and the hope is that they can not only make their return in 2016, but that they can compete with the likes of the Denver Broncos for a Division Championship as well.

Like every team in the history of the NFL, Kansas City has question marks entering camp. On paper, however, they have a roster that should at least challenge for the AFC West championship — especially if Peyton Manning finally proves to be human (and a 39-year-old one at that).

Denver is certainly vulnerable to be overtaken sooner rather than later, but the question, of course, remains: Will it be this season, and will it be the Chiefs who do it?

Since K.C. picked up Alex Smith, the former San Francisco 49ers QB has played excellent football. Entering his his 11th year, the former Utah Ute has a lot left in the tank. He’s proven he’s not an elite quarterback, but another year is this system will do him some good, and could provide Chiefs fans with the best year they’ve seen from him since his arrival.

As for running back, Jamaal Charles is a beast with a caveat: The dude has to stay healthy. His receiving makes him a dual-threat out of the backfield, but his speed and big-play threat can’t be ignored in the running game either.

On top of that, Knile Davis is arguably one of the best NFL backups at the position.  De’Anthony Thomas should be improved as well, as he’s another multi-talented player who can make plays in different scenarios.

If you’re looking for some bold predictions, let’s start with this one: A wide receiver will catch a touchdown this season. That might not sound bold to the casual fan, but this group failed to have that happen all of last season. That can’t happen two years in a row, right?

Also look for the secondary to compete with the rest of the league as the best pass defense in all of football. This team was in the top three in that category last season, but now with the addition of Marcus Peters, this team could very well be the best.

But how many wins can we realistically expect out of this group?

2015 Kansas City Chiefs Season Win Betting Prediction

Bet on Over 8.5 Games (-135)

I like this team for 10 or 11 wins during the 2015-16 campaign, and a return back to the postseason. But here’s one catch about those wins: The team is forced to sacrifice a home game, which has been replaced by an overseas contest versus the Detroit Lions in London.

Worst-case scenario looks like this team is back to nine wins. A 9-7 record wouldn’t be ideal, but it would still qualify as ‘over’ when looking at the 8.5 games the team is currently pegged at before preseason begins.

And if it can reach that double-digit mark, it should be enough to put them back into the postseason.
