I believe this is the 6th time this has happened in Super Bowl history and the odds are in favour of the Seattle Seahawks based on what we have seen in those situations before (only once has the top offensive team won).

That seems about right to me but this will certainly be the toughest test that Seattle has faced and I can make a strong case for either team winning.

Denver

All season long the Denver Broncos have been Super Bowl or bust and there is no surprise on how they got there. This is a superlative offensive team with one of the best collections of skill position talent ever assembled and some of these guys are just getting started. We all know about QB Peyton Manning and WR Wes Welker but the rest of the guys, Eric Decker, DeMarius Thomas and Julian Thomas are all young in their careers.

Despite all that passing heft it may fall on the shoulders of RB Knowshon Moreno to lead this team to the promised land.

Moreno has been mostly a bust for his career but this season he has shown that when defenses go all out to stop Manning and Co. that he can be an effective weapon.

I expect that he is going to have to do that again but this time it will be against the best tackling defense he has faced all season long.

Against New England he had a huge game in what wound up being a loss. Can he actually have one of those monster games in a win? Will Manning’s ego allow that. Time to find out.

Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks have also been on a Super Bowl course all season long too but since this is still a very young team it would have not have been suprising if they had fallen short amidst all of the expectations…but they didn’t.

As advertised they were the best defense in the league, an aggressive unit that makes you question what you do well and exploits mistakes.

Denver will be a true test for their top secondary but if anyone can stop Manning it is CB Richard Marshall and that Seahawks secondary.

The question is whether that will be enough. While the Seahawks have been winning games what has gone unexplored is what is wrong with QB Russell Wilson. Wins have masked the fact that he has not been very good over the second half of this season and the fact is that he does not have a great set of weapons to work with even if WR Percy Harvin is healthy and effective.

It will once again fall on The Beast (Marshawn Lynch) if the Seahawks are going to emerge victorious in the Super Bowl.

Spread Prediction: Seattle +2.5
Totals Prediction: Under
Score Prediction: Seattle 24 – Denver 117
