NFL Betting – Week 9 Picks

For the second week in a row, the Baltimore Ravens burned me! Favored by 13 points, they managed to squeak out a measly three point victory. It’s a good thing that we have Week 9 to right the ship!

There are some legitimate marquee matchups this weekend, three of which are featured in this week’s Handicapping Preview and one intriguing underdog that is also included. Enjoy and hopefully I have better luck than last week!

WEEK 7 ATS PICKS RECORD: 2-2-0
SEASON ATS PICKS RECORD: 21-16-1

Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys

Sunday, November 6, 1:00 PM ET
NFL Betting Favorite: Dallas -11 ½

The Dallas Cowboys got humiliated in Philadelphia in Week 8 and return home to take on a Seattle team that got beaten down at home last week. It is safe to say that both teams struggled mightily in their games. But Seattle looked like a completely different team when Tavaris Jackson entered the game while the Cowboys just looked like the same old Cowboys with Tony Romo at the helm.

Seattle is a brutal road team – just 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight away from home but they have covered the spread in their last two road games. Dallas is 5-0 ATS against Seattle but they are a miserable 2-9-1 ATS in their last 10 games as a home favorite.

Tavaris Jackson threw for 323 yards in 2 ½ quarters last week and showed that he has complete control of his offense. Tony Romo looked brutal last week and proved that he didn’t have any control of his offense. Dallas probably wins this game but 11 ½ points is far too rich for me. I like the Hawks to give the Cowboys a run for their money on Sunday – heck a SU win wouldn’t shock me the way that Dallas looked in Week 8! Pick: Seattle Seahawks +11 ½

Atlanta Falcons at Indianapolis Colts

Sunday, November 6, 1:00 PM ET
NFL Betting Favorite: Atlanta -7

The Atlanta Falcons, healthy and fresh off their bye will try to build on a two game winning streak against an Indianapolis team that has yet to win this season. Indianapolis has owned Atlanta going 5-1 SU and ATS in the last six meetings. But the Colts are inept without Peyton Manning.

Atlanta had the bye week to allow Roddy White and Julio Jones to heal. With Michael Turner playing at a high level as well, the Falcons balanced attack will be WAY too much for Indianapolis.

Throw out all of the Betting Trends for this one – Indianapolis is a shadow of the team that they have been for the last decade. This could be the blowout of the week – grab the Falcons at -7 before the line moves higher! Pick: Atlanta Falcons -7

Green Bay Packers at San Diego Chargers

Sunday, November 6, 4:15 PM ET
NFL Betting Favorite: Green Bay -6

The Green Bay Packers pay a rare visit to San Diego on Sunday looking to keep their perfect record intact against a Chargers team that literally gave their Week 8 game away. The Packers are coming off their bye, will be fresh and ready to make a statement against a team that some thought that they would meet in next year’s Super Bowl. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Green Bay has been very tough this season. They are scoring points by the boat load but they are giving up an uncharacteristic amount of points as well. Aaron Rodgers has been off the hook this season and his receivers have been nearly unstoppable. The Pack are obviously the real deal!

The San Diego Chargers are 4-3 on the season after a humbling and head-scratching loss on Monday night. They seem to be shooting themselves in the foot more than any other team in the NFL the last couple of seasons – Philip Rivers’s league leading 14 turnovers this season is just another example.

Green Bay is 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games and have covered the spread in the last two meetings. San Diego is 5-0 ATS in their last five games as home underdog.

To beat the Green Bay Packers a team is going to have to be flawless this season – San Diego is far from that! A bounce back is certainly possible in this game but with news of Ryan Matthews potential unavailability makes this game even easier to predict. Pick: Green Bay Packers -6

Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles

Monday, November 7, 8:30 PM ET
NFL Betting Favorite: Philadelphia -7

The Philadelphia Eagles are finally looking like the team that most envisioned in the preseason. The Eagles swarmed, overwhelmed and obliterated the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8. Now the Chicago Bears are next in line to try to slow down the rolling Eagles. Both teams have won two straight games ahead of their Monday night showdown.

Chicago`s offense has been nothing special outside of Matt Forte this season. Forte is Chicago`s only chance for success. Don`t think that the Eagles don`t know it either! While Chicago`s offense has been just OK this season, the defense has been equally average. Stopping Michael Vick and company will be a major chore for a Chicago D that is 28th against the pass and 12th against the run.

The Philadelphia Eagles were able to put it all together on Sunday night – offense and defense were stellar in their beat down of the Cowboys. The offense has been good all season long – they rank 1st in rushing and 9th in passing. The problem is that yards has not always translated to seven points and that turnovers are far too frequent. In the Eagles last two wins; they have looked much, much better. They have been scoring when they have the chance and they have been limiting mistakes.

Chicago is 2-4 ATS in their last six games and are 3-9 SU in their last 12 versus Philadelphia. The Eagles are just 2-4 SU in their last six games overall and at home. The Eagles are 1-4 ATS in their last five at home overall and are 2-4 SU in their last six at home versus the Bears.

It is as tough to trust Jay Cutler as it ever has been. When the going gets tough, Cutler falls apart. Expect the Eagles emerging defense to make it extremely difficult for Jay and company on Sunday with turnovers by Jay Cutler being the difference. Pick: Philadelphia Eagles -7
