NFC East Game Previews – St. Louis Rams vs Dallas Cowboys

It is already Week 7 of the 2011 NFL football season, but the St. Louis Rams will be looking for their first win of the year when they take-on the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday afternoon at Cowboys Stadium. Game time is set for 4:15 p.m. and it will be broadcast regionally on FOX.

St.Louis opened the season as a +185 co-favorite with San Francisco to win the NFC West but some sloppy play coupled with some devastating injuries have led to a disastrous 0-5 start straight-up (0-5 against the spread) that has all but ended any title hopes. The total has gone 2-2-1 in the five games.

Quarterback Sam Bradford is hoping to be ready to go for Sunday after suffering a high ankle sprain in last week loss to Green Bay, but could be hampered with his mobility against an aggressive Cowboys’ pass rush. If he cannot go, look for journeyman A.J Feeley to get the start in his place.

Dallas is coming off a tough 20-16 loss to New England as a 6.5-point road underdog. This was a game it should have easily won if it could have found a way to kill the clock late in the fourth quarter.  The end result was just another huge disappointment you can add to the list in the Cowboys’ 2-3 SU start (2-2-1 ATS). The total has gone ‘over’ in three of their first five games. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Tony Romo has already taken the blame for a couple of Dallas’s losses this season, but you have to point the finger at head coach Jason Garrett and his staff for last Sunday’s loss. Actually you might want to pin most of the blame on Garrett for the Cowboys’ sluggish start as he has yet to get his team to play a solid 60 minutes, even in the two games it won.

The Rams are 0-6 ATS in their last six games as underdogs and the total has stayed ‘under’ in four of its last five games on the road.

The Cowboys are 1-7 ATS in their last eight games as a home favorite and the total has gone ‘over’ in 10 of their last 11 home games.

St. Louis is 3-2 ATS in the last five meetings and the total has stayed ‘under’ in three of the last four games between the two. This time around, stick with Dallas to win big at home and cover the 12.5-point spread.
