2008 Record: 10-6
ATS: 6-10

The Minnesota Vikings were supposed to be a Super Bowl contender had they acquired Brett Favre but now without him, they simply aren’t as sexy. The Vikings could be one of the most overrated teams in the NFL.

On offense, the Vikings may have a worse unit than last year. The quarterback position is still a big question mark between Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels and while the running game is in good hands, the offensive line could be an issue.

The Vikings lost high-caliber center Matt Birk in the offseason, which means their offensive line is somewhat suspect now. Beyond that, first-round pick Percy Harvin could be a nice addition but Florida doesn’t exactly have a good track record of producing wideouts.

On defense, the Vikings again will have a smash mouth unit that will not give up anything on the ground.
With Pat and Kevin Williams in the middle, and Jared Allen on the end of the line, this is a line that is among the best in the business. Moving a level back, there aren’t too many issues with their linebacking corps, which is very underrated.
One evident concern on defense is the lack of depth virtually everywhere. While the Vikings do have excellent frontline starters, they won’t be able to handle too many injuries at any level on the defense.

With Brad Childress running the show in Minnesota, the Vikings won’t play to their potential. Against quality defenses that can slow down Adrian Peterson, the Vikings will struggle. Few people believe Rosenfels is the answer and with limited quarterbacking, the Vikings are just the Tennessee Titans.

It remains to be seen how much Brett Favre’s return to this team will really help their chances to win it all. I think he will make them a better team and provide a few extra wins, but not a championship.

Favre is a solid addition and relieves Peterson of some pressure. It may take a few games to get everything together but this team quickly became a favorite in the NFC North. I say Favre gets it done and they battle with GB for the title all the way to the final game. 2nd in the NFC North

JUst don’t get the $25 million signing. Sure, if it makes you a significantly better team. I think Brett neither improves or hurts a team that had all the tools before the DRAMA. My bet is that Brett proves to be a distraction, and Green Bay quietly takes the NFC North, while Favre loudly fizzles down the stretch again, ruining another MVP calibre season by AP!
