New York Giants vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Preview

On the season the Giants are 4-7 ATS and they have an O/U record of 7-4 and the Jaguars are 2-8-1 ATS and they have an Under record of 6-5.

This season the Jaguars are 1-4 at home and the Giants are 1-4 on the road.

In their last games the Giants lost to the Dallas Cowboys 31-18 and the Jags lost to the Indianapolis Colts 23-3.

Well, this isn’t the biggest match up in the NFL, but still an important one for a couple of teams that look to end their long losing streak. The Jags have lost 4 straight and the Giants have lost 6 straight and even on the road they are the betting favorite.

While the Giants allowed the Cowboys to come back and win in their last game all anybody is talking about is Odell Beckham Jr.’s TD catch that many, including I, are calling the best catch of all time.

Both teams have major issues on both sides of the ball, but especially Jacksonville, as they do not rank in the top 23 in the league in pass and run offense and pass and run defense.

Blake Bortles continues to be unimpressive this season under center for the Jags and he struggled big time in the loss to the Colts passing for a season low 146 yards with 0 TD and 0 INT. Allen Robinson is having a decent season for a pretty weak WR corps, but Bortles may have a chance for a solid game facing a New York pass defense that ranks 24th in the league and a pass rush that ranks 26th in sacks.

One somewhat bright spot for the Jags this season has been the play of rookie RB Denard Robinson, who had a string of 4 solid games, including rushing for over 100 yards in 2, before only rushing for 25 yards in the Indy loss. However, he will face a New York run D that has been torched all season and ranks 2nd to last in the league.

Eli Manning had a big game in the Dallas loss passing for 338 yards with 3 TD and 1 INT and WR Beckham Jr.’s had 146 receiving yards with 2 TD. Jacksonville’s secondary has given up big plays all season, but their pass rush has been solid ranking 3rd in the league in sacks. They have to get to Manning in this game and if they fail to do so look for him to put up some serious passing numbers.

The Giants have had issues all season helping Manning out with the running game, but in the loss to Dallas RB Brandon Jennings rushed for 52 yards and also had 68 receiving yards.

4* Cappers NFL Free Pick

Even with all the issues for the Giants and even though they are on the road I simply cannot pick the Jags. Take New York to win this one, covering the spread, and ending their 6-game losing streak.
