Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears Preview

On the season the Lions are 7-7 ATS and they have an O/U record of 4-10 and the Bears are 5-9 ATS and they have an Under record of 8-6.

This season the Bears are 2-5 at home and the Lions are 3-3 on the road.

In their last games the Lions beat the Minnesota Vikings 16-14 and the Bears lost to the New Orleans Saints 31-15.

The Lions are in a good position to make the post-season, but they still have some work to do. They are tied with the Packers for the lead in the NFC North and if they win out they will win the division. However, their last 2 games are on the road and they still have to play at Green Bay in their season finale.

The wheels have fallen off for the Bears, who have lost 3 straight and their defense has really struggled. They have given up at least 31 points in each of their last 3 games and overall they rank dead last in the league in opponents’ points allowed.

The Lions did not look sharp on offense in their last game, but their D came through. They rank #1 in the league in run defense and 14th in pass defense.

Earlier this season in Detroit the Lions beat the Bears 34-17.

Matthew Stafford only had 153 passing yards with 1 TD, but he was not picked off. He has Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate and he may have a big game facing a Chicago pass D that ranks 2nd to last in the league. Stafford threw for 390 yards with 2 TD in the win over the Bears at home a few weeks back.

Joique Bell had one of his better games on the season in the first match up against the Bears and he was decent last week against Minnesota. The Chicago run D ranks 15th in the league and they played well even in the loss to the Saints only giving up 83 rushing yards.

Jay Cutler has been plagued by the INT and an iffy offensive line all season and in the loss to New Orleans he passed for less than 200 yards, was sacked 7 times, and had 3 INT. He threw 2 picks against Detroit this season and he cannot turn the ball over in this game. The Detroit pass rush is solid, but their secondary struggled in the Vikings win giving up 284 passing yards.

Matt Forte ranks 3rd in the league in yards from scrimmage and he will be key in this game running the ball and catching balls out of the backfield.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

He was solid in the loss to the Saints, but has a tall task facing a Detroit run D that is the top-ranked unit in the league.
