Carolina Panthers vs. Baltimore Ravens Preview

On the season the Panthers are 2-1 ATS and have an Over/Under record of 1-2 and the Ravens are 1-1-1 ATS with an Over/Under record of 1-2.

In their last games the Ravens beat the Cleveland Browns 23-21 and the Panthers lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 37-19.

On the season the Ravens are 1-1 at home and the Ravens are 1-0 on the road.

The Ravens had not had the best off-season to say the least with the whole Ray Rice situation, but they have won 2 straight after losing their season opener and are 3-point betting favorites this Sunday at home facing the Panthers.

Last season the Panthers won because of their great defense, but they have struggled on that side of the ball so far this season. Carolina only ranks 27th in pass defense and while they rank 8th in run D that unit was torched last week.

Joe Flacco has been decent this season, but one of the key aspects to their offense is RB Justin Forsett. Hey, no Ray Rice no problem, as Forsette has averaged over 5.5 yards per carry in each of the 3 games and he has not fumbled one time.

He will be facing a Carolina run defense that has to be licking their wounds after giving up a whopping 264 rushing yards in the bad loss to the Steelers. On top of that Baltimore got a big boost last week when rookie RB Lorenzo Taliaferro rushed for 91 yards.

Flacco has been decent this season and the one player the Panthers really have to worry about is WR Steve Smith, who already has 290 receiving yards and is averaging over 16 yards per reception.

Cam Newton had a good game facing Pittsburgh with 250 passing yards and 1 TD and 0 INT, but he got barely any help from the rushing offense. For the game the Panthers only rushed for a grand total of 42 yards and for the season Carolina only ranks 29th in rushing yards per game. Jonathan Stewart is the leading rusher for the team and he only has 88 yards on a 3.3 per carry average.

Newton has some solid weapons including rookie Kelvin Benjamin, but while he has yet to throw a pick this season he only has 2 TD passes in 2 games.

The Panthers are tied with the Falcons for first place in the NFC South and this game is important for them.

In their next several games their schedule is killer having to face the Bears, Bengals, Packers, Seahawks, Saints, Eagles, and Falcons.

Cappers NFL Free 4* Pick

The Panthers have their issues, but I still think they are the better team than the Ravens and they will at least cover the spread on the road this Sunday.
