Week 8 NFL Betting Parlay – Cowboys vs. Lions, Packers vs. Vikings

NFL Parlay of the Week

The Oddsmakers have been razor sharp the past two weeks in the NFL with an even 15-15 split between favorites and underdogs against the spread. When it came to betting totals, it was the second week in a row that nine of the 15 games went OVER the closing line.

Turning to Week 8 in the NFL I have uncovered a couple of matchups that come together perfectly to form this Sunday’s parlay of the week based on lines provided by [dfads params=’groups=63740&limit=1&return_javascript=0′].

Game 1- Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions

Pointspread: Detroit -3
Total Line: 51

ATS Matchup Stats | NFL Gambling Insight!

The Cowboys only managed to score 17 points against Philadelphia last Sunday but it was more than enough to get the win. Look for a return to normal this Sunday from an offense that is ranked third in the NFL in scoring with an average of 28.6 points a game.

Also look for a Dallas pass defense that is ranked 30th in the league in yards allowed to get tested far more than it did last week.

Detroit fell to 4-3 on the year with a 27-24 loss to Cincinnati last Sunday.

The total went OVER the 45.5-point closing line and it has now gone OVER in three of its last four games. This is easy to see considering that the Lions with Matthew Stafford at the helm are ranked fifth in the NFL in passing and averaging 26.6 points a game. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

This is another team that has struggled to defend the pass this season which sets things up for an aerial shootout this Sunday afternoon. That should lead to more than enough points to take this game OVER the 51-point line.

Game 2- Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings

Pointspread: Green Bay -10
Total Line: 47.5

ATS Matchup Stats | NFL Gambling Insight!

Green Bay stumbled out of the gate with a 1-2 start, but it has been all systems go ever since with three-straight victories by a combined 33 points. The Packers are now 4-2 both straight-up and against the spread and back on top in the NFC North.

While Aaron Rodgers continues to throw the ball all over the field with 1,906 yards and 13 touchdowns, Green Bay has also established a running game behind rookie Eddie Lacy that is averaging 134.7 yards a game.

Things have gone from bad to worse for Minnesota after this past Monday’s 23-7 loss to the New York Giants dropped its overall record to 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS.

The Vikings turned to Josh Freeman at quarterback against the Giants and to add injury to insult, he was diagnosed with a concussion after completing just 37.7 percent of his 53 attempts for 190 yards.

Look for Minnesota to go back to Christian Ponder as its starter for Sunday, but no matter who is behind center for this offense, there is no way the Vikings are keeping this game closer than 10 points.
