The Packers won a single playoff game in 2012.

And even though their passing attack is one of the league’s best behind the strong and accurate arm of Aaron Rodgers, their defense and running game struggled all season long.

Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback in the NFL today, and can often times single handily whip any team on any given day, But a one-pronged attack is unfortunately not going to be good enough to work game in and game out, especially against a team like San Francisco.

Defensively, the Niners’ have several key players that can squash even the best offense in the NFL. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Justin Smith provides some serious pass rushing, while NoVorro Bowman and Patrick Willis make it very tough to run the football up the middle.

The secondary is just as good, with Tarell Brown and Donte Whitner being part of one of the more physical secondaries in football.

Meanwhile, offensively, the 49ers will jab with quarterback Colin Kaepernick, before delivering pounding haymakers and knockout punches to the Green Bay defense with running back Frank Gore and deep-threat receiver Anquan Boldin.

Toss in Vernon Davis, one of the best pass catching tight ends in the NFL, and this 49ers team looks poised to not only return to the Super bowl — but win it.

Matt’s Free Prediction

As good as the 49ers appear, you can’t discount the Packers in this one. And if they can find their running game, could very well topple San Francisco at home.

Defensively, the Packers like to roll the dice, but are more than capable of putting up points on the board to make up for it.

But are they ready for the 49ers this early in the season?

San Francisco is 15-6-1 against the spread in their last 22 home games, while Green Bay is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games overall.

I expect to see some scoring in this one, and I think the line will go over.

San Francisco 42, Green Bay 31
