This weekend, they’ll look to do the exact same thing. You must savor the small victories when you’re a rebuilding club like Tennessee is.

The Eagles are looking to bounce back at home after a brow-beating 53-20 loss on the cold tundra of Green Bay. The good news is, that’s usually what they do at home.

It also helps that the opponent is the Titans, a 2-8 struggling club that, if not a train-wreck, is at least held up between stations with signalling problems.

Rookie QB Zach Mettenberger leads the troops for Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt, and his performance has been up-and-down, as you’d predict for a rookie.

The cocky kid from LSU can get it done with his arm, as he showed last week in some nice connections to WRs Kendall Wright and Nate Washington in the recent Monday nighter versus Pittsburgh. Missing breakout TE Delanie Walker and the lack of a ground game makes this rather impressive.

A nugget of good news for the Titans is that Walker should be cleared to play this Sunday.

Still, it’s not an easy fix in the Music City. Titans fans have become disenchanted; the Monday nighter in Nashville was effectively a Steelers home game. The QB position has been a game of musical chairs for this franchise, Titans’ fans and brass surely hope that the music stops with Mettenberger.

The Eagles are very capable of cranking up the offense this weekend and re-asserting their presence in the NFC East. Tennessee is basically low-hanging fruit, when you combine that with Philly’s prowess on its home field, you have to like the Eagles’ chances even with no Nick Foles.

Quarterback Mark Sanchez, whom everyone thought was done and dusted as an NFL starter after the “Butt Fumble” and various other embarrassments, is back under center for the Eagles and not playing badly.

Sanchez and rookie WR Jordan Matthews have been making sweet music since Foles has been out; veteran RB (really, a do-everything guy) Darren Sproles has also been a great acquisition. If starting RB LeSean McCoy can get back to the level he’s shown he can play at, Chip Kelly’s Philly offense is mostly unstoppable.

The 7-3 Eagles have only played .500 ball since their October bye week, so they’ll surely want to right the ship and put the pressure back on Dallas within the division.

With a team philosophy that focuses on simply out-scoring and out-hustling the opposition, provided that Sanchez can play a functional game.

Take the OVER

There’s no reason why the Eagles shouldn’t come away successful against one of the league’s weaklings.
