This is the first of two meetings between the NFC West foes – a loss by either team will put them in serious peril to qualify for the playoffs this year. It should be interesting.

Seahawks

In Week 12 the Seattle Seahawks finally go back to the brand of football that allowed them to win it all last season – stifling defensive play was complimented by a good running game.

Many had the Seahawks left for dead before last week`s 19-3 demolition of the previously scorching Cardinals but that win proved that Seattle isn`t quite ready to roll over just yet.

Offensively the Seahawks seem to be getting their identity back – the running game that has averaged 169.6 yards per game (mostly thanks to a 350 yard effort a few weeks back against Washington) has hit its stride – Marshawn Lynch is running better and Russell Wilson who has a stunning 644 yards rushing on the season are always threats to take off – either can and will break a big play at any time of a game. Seattle`s running game made a previously impenetrable Arizona run defense look average last week – they will look to do the same this week.

Seattle`s passing game won`t wow you but the use of play action makes it dangerous and efficient. Outside of Doug Baldwin the Hawks are void of any big names in the receiving corp. Russell Wilson has passed for over 211 yards just twice this season meaning that the running game will be the key as well as the…

Seattle`s defense is getting healthier – the return from injury of Kam Chancellor and Bobby Wagner to the lineup has made all the difference in the world. The Seahawk defense is once again one of the most feared units in the game – just ask the Arizona Cardinals who gained just 204 yards against them last week.

49ers

The San Francisco 49ers enter Thursday night`s clash on a three game winning streak although those wins have been rather unspectacular. All of the wins have come by seven or less points including last week when they allowed a terrible Redskins team hang around en route to a 17-13 win. San Francisco is doing enough to win games but will have to step up in order to post the win this week.

The 49ers offense has taken a serious step backward this season. The team has scored just 33 combined points in their last two wins – against awful Giants and Redskins defenses – they have scored more than 17 points bust once in their last five games.

San Francisco`s running game has to get back on track! They rode their running game to the tune of 160 yards per game in their last two victories at home versus Seattle. But those numbers seem like a bit of a pipe dream – the Niners gained just 66 yards on 29 yards last week – not good at all!

Colin Kaepernick hasn`t looked good all season long – he hasn`t posted a 100 passer rating since Week 6. The passing game has some true weapons but has been unable to get on track as of late. Vernon Davis has disappeared and Michael Crabtree is griping about his usage.

For the 49ers to win Thursday it looks like it is going to be up to the defense – relying on them isn`t such a bad thing! In the last two games, San Francisco has recorded seven sacks and five interceptions, allowing 11.5 points per game – stellar numbers that have come against some bad teams.

The return of Aldon Smith to the lineup couldn’t have come at a better time for this team – San Francisco will absolutely need their defense to be dominant again Thursday.

NFL Week 13 Betting Trends

• SEA are 16-6 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
• SEA are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 vs. NFC.
• Under is 10-4 in SEA last 14 vs. NFC.
• Under is 9-3 in SF last 12 vs. NFC.
• Under is 10-4 in SF last 14 games overall.
• SF are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games in Week 13.
• Favorite is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings.
• Home team is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 meetings.

The 49ers have won five straight meetings at home against Seattle but this edition of the team is as inconsistent and as underwhelming as any team San Francisco has had the last few years.

NFL Week 13 Betting Prediction

When you are a one-dimensional team and that dimension is struggling like the 49ers are on offense, things are bound to go south a bit.

4* Play: Take the Seahawks to make a big statement!

Seattle`s defensive play and their balance on offense will be too much on Turkey Day.
