Their destination? A visit to the scorching Seattle Seahawks – a team that they were supposed to be battling with for top spot in the NFC West. For the 49ers, nothing has gone right the past few weeks while the Seahawks can seem to do no wrong.

Can we expect more of the same in Week 15 or do the 49ers have a little magic left in the tank? Let’s take a look.

49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are in turmoil – from the front office to the coaching to the players on the field this team has lost its identity.

Two weeks ago it was a 19-3 home loss on home soil and last week it was a humiliating 24-13 loss to lowly Oakland that has put a ton of doubt in the heads of the 49ers players and fans.

The team has failed to score more than 20 points in six of their last seven games – three times in the last four weeks against Washington and Oakland – yuk.

Colin Kaepernick has taken a serious step backward this year – he was awful against Seattle and against Oakland he threw for just 174 yards, 1 TD and two interceptions. Three weeks back he was equally ineffective against a terrible Washington defense.

To think that Kaep, Anquan Boldin, Stevie Johnson, Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis can suddenly flick a switch against a Seattle defense that dominated them once already this season is a huge stretch indeed!

If Kaepernick’s play hasn’t been bad enough – a look at the 49ers patented running game shows another reason that the Niners are struggling. Frank Gore is showing his age and has failed to run for 100 yards in his last eight games and rookie Carlos Hyde has been a major disappointment.

The rushers won’t get anything going against Seattle’s insane defense – especially in Seattle where they have traditionally struggled.

The only chance that San Francisco has is the defense that allowed just one TD on Thanksgiving to the Hawks. They sacked Russell Wilson three times and forced one fumble I that game.

That said this defense was torched by Derek Carr to the tune of over 300 yards and three TDs in Week 14 and the Seattle offense looks like it has seriously picked up its game in the last couple of weeks.

Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are on some kind of roll! They are peaking at precisely the right time and are looking very much like a serious threat in the NFC once again.

They can thank the defense for their recent surge – the D gave up just 139 yards to the prolific Eagles offense last week and have surrendered – get this – 507 total yards and 20 points in their last three games combined! Insane!

Seattle allowed just 164 yards of offense to the 49ers two weeks ago – 121 passing yards to Colin Kaepernick and could reasonably better those numbers this week with the 12th man making life miserable for the Niners.

Offensively the Seahawks have found something! Russell Wilson was terrific against the Eagles in Week 14 throwing for 263 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 48 yards and a TD on the ground. Doug Baldwin finally showed up and recorded 97 yards receiving last week and Marshawn Lynch continued to be productive in the run game and even in the receiving game.

The Hawks get a crack at a defense that seems to be unraveling before our very eyes – San Fran allowed 330 yards of offense to the Raiders of all teams and made Derek Carr look like a Pro-Bowler.

Keep in mind that Seattle moved the ball well against this team two weeks ago – they should have even more success on home turf this week.

NFL Week 15 Betting Trends

• SF are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games in Week 15.
• Under is 7-2 in SF last 9 games in Week 15.
• Under is 20-8-2 in SF last 30 games on fieldturf.
• Under is 7-1 in SEA last 8 vs. NFC West.
• SEA are 20-7 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
• SEA are 36-16 ATS in their last 52 vs. NFC.

The Seahawks have gone 7-0 ATS in their last seven games against the Niners – expect that trend to continue. Absolutely nothing is going right for San Francisco right now on either side of the ball. The 49ers seem to have given up on the season and aren’t playing for their coach anymore. It’s sad but the 49ers are a shell of the team they were the last couple of seasons. This game has blowout written all over it. Take Seattle add another nail into Jim Harbaugh’s coffin.
