Washington

Things have gone from bad to worse as a lost season has turned into a questionable future for the Redskins with the benching of RGIII.

It is hard to argue with the decision but it is anybody’s guess as to how this is all going to work out in terms of his and coach Jay Gruden’s future in Washington.

For this week at least the job of leading the team on the field falls to Colt McCoy who is doing a very nice Chad Pennington impression, although I suppose that depends on whether you like Chad Pennington.

McCoy rarely embarrasses himself but I think it is fair to say that he is limited. If he is surrounded by superlative talent like he was at Texas he looks great but there is a reason he hasn’t stuck with a team in the NFL so far. I am not putting much stock in his performance from a few weeks ago.

I saw a lot more catch and run then brilliant quarterbacking. He is a stopgap and not someone you want to place your money on.

Indianapolis

The Colts are far from the best team in the AFC but next to New England it looks like they have the easiest path to the playoffs.

At times they have looked really good against good competition but their loss to the Patriots has me questioning just how good they are. Are they really more than a great QB/WR combo in a very weak division?

They should have no trouble dispatching the Redskins who are a tire fire right now. Scheduling is everything in the NFL and this is a another great case.

That combo of Andrew Luck and T.Y. Hilton is getting better all the time and even though Hilton is not 6’3″ Luck is always able to get him the ball it seems.

Indy is still struggling getting consistent production in the running game but they are committed to it and I think the balance in their play calling makes their offense a lot better overall.

They should be just fine against Washington.

NFL Handicapping Trends:

  • Redskins are 1-6-3 ATS in their last 10 games after accumulating less than 250 total yards in their previous game.
  • Redskins are 2-11-4 ATS in their last 17 games after accumulating less than 150 yards passing in their previous game.
  • Redskins are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss.
  • Colts are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
  • Over is 6-1 in Colts last 7 games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
  • Over is 6-1 in Colts last 7 games in November.

NFL Prediction:  Indianapolis -10

This is one of the lower profile games of a nice schedule.

NFL Score prediction: Indianapolis 27 – Washington 10

If you can get it below 10 than the value is there.
