Baltimore

The Ravens bested their rival Pittsburgh to make it to this round.

Usually those games are super tight but this year in both the regular season and the playoffs that wasn’t the case – I hope we are not losing this rivalry because it might be the best in the NFL.

Speaking of rivalries the Ravens will look to get up and over New England like the did on the way to the Super Bowl a couple of seasons ago. That game was on the road too so there won’t be much intimidation this week.

In the playoffs Joe Flacco continue to prove that he can be a difference maker.

He is pretty unflappable back there and is unlikely to be too disturbed by a New England pass rush that is pretty average.

The running game is functional and the defense is better than average so this one will probably come to a duel between Flacco and Tom Brady.

The last time around Flacco won that battle (but the defense was probably better then).

New England

The Pats took the spot in the AFC but you have to wonder if they would have preferred facing anybody but the Ravens in this round.

Baltimore has some momentum and if any team is unafraid about venturing to Foxboro it is this group.

This has been a cryptic season for NE. At times they have looked terrible but at the same time they made the playoffs with ease.

Still this team does not look like a real threat to win it all regardless of what happens this weekend. I guess we will see.

I really don’t like this matchup for New England. As an older team they probably benefitted from the extra rest but they are sporadic running the ball and I am not sure they can win with Brady having to do it all on his own.

Gronk is a great weapon but he is sure to get extra attention and I am not sure who on the defense is going to step up and make “the” plays needed in a big game.

They are way more than solid but it is all on Brady, again.

4* FREE NFL Prediction:  Baltimore +7

I am probably in the minority in calling the upset here.

NFL Score prediction:  Baltimore 24 – New England 21

Even if the Ravens fall short I think the value is all with the visitors. Nothing wrong with going bold from time to time.
