The Ravens may not currently sit in a playoff spot, but they are right in the thick of the ultra-competitive AFC playoff picture with the same record as both the San Diego Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

If the team is able to win out against the Jaguars, Houston Texans, and Cleveland Browns, they would be in.

The Ravens overcame a 10-0 deficit in last weekend’s 28-13 win over the Miami Dolphins. Quarterback Joe Flacco put up three total touchdowns – two through the air and one on the ground – to help fuel the comeback.

One of Flacco’s top targets, wide receiver Torrey Smith, was limited to 15 snaps last week as he continues to deal with a nagging knee injury.

His status for Sunday remains up in the air. Veteran wideout Kamar Aiken has brought in nine balls for 116 yards and a score over the last two games.

An area in which the team has improved immensely of late has been at rushing the passer. The Ravens recorded a season-high nine sacks against the Dolphins, and they did it without the services of suspended defensive tackle Haloti Ngata. Linebacker Elvis Dumervil had 3 1/2 sacks to up his total for the season to a franchise-record 16.

That’s bad news for the Jaguars: rookie quarterback Blake Bortles has been sacked 38 times, including 19 times in the team’s last four outings. Bortles also threw his league-leading 16th interception in last weekend’s 27-13 loss to the Houston Texans.

4* Free Jacksonville vs. Baltimore Pick:

The Ravens outclass the Jaguars badly in this matchup, and building up a margin won’t be too big of a deal for Baltimore – only the Packers and Patriots have better point differentials.

Additionally, the Ravens have stepped up their game in a big way on defense, and that’s going to mean big trouble for a Jaguars offense that has struggled to find any sort of consistency.

NFL Betting Trends:

  • The Ravens are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against opponents with a losing record, and they are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.
  • The Jaguars are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven road games, and they are 9-23-2 ATS in their last 34 games overall.
  • The under is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings between these teams, and it is 6-1 in the Jaguars’ last seven games against AFC opponents.
  • The under is 11-5 in the Ravens’ last 16 home games, and it is 7-3 in the Jaguars’ last 10 games following a double-digit home loss.

The play: Ravens -14, Under 45.5
