Seahawks Host Packers in Intriguing Season Opener

The Pack will be out to avenge that loss and will be looking to make a big statement Thursday night.

In their way – the defending champs who again enter the season looking like the most complete squad in the game.

Green Bay

The Green Bay Packers enter the 2014 season feeling pretty good about their chances to contend in the NFC- Aaron Rodgers is healthy, Eddie Lacy looks like the new breakout star and the defense looks improved, at least on paper.

The problem for the Packers is CenturyLink, it is hard to fathom the noise that Rodgers and the offense are about to face. With the Super Bowl banner going up in Seattle – the crowd figures to play a huge roll in this game.

Lacy is the big X- factor – he ran for 1,178 yards and 11 TDs last season – mostly when Rodgers was hurt. He will be a benefactor of Rodgers’ return and with weapons in the passing game – the Packers will be a handful for sure.

Defensively the Packers got better – Julius Peppers should make a big difference alongside Clay Matthews. It just may take a game or two for these guys to gel but when they do the Packers pass rush becomes dominant!

Seattle

For Seattle – it looks like all systems go. All of the pieces that dominated the 2013 season are back in the fold except for a few minor departures. The big difference this year could be Percy Harvin who was injured the bulk of the 2014 season.

When he is in the lineup, he has proven to be a dangerous weapon – Harvin adds a terrific wrinkle into an already good offense.

Russell Wilson has grown up before our very eyes and Marshawn Lynch is still there as a rock out of the backfield. Translation – Seattle’s offense is legit – better than they need to be largely because…

The Hawks have the benefit of a stellar defense – Richard Sherman (48 tackles, 8 interceptions) and Kam Chancellor (99 tackles, 3 INTs) will be tasked with slowing Aaron Rodgers – they took on all comes last year and never wavered.

Seattle’s run defense allowed just 101.6 yards per game last year so expect Eddie Lacy to have a tough time getting anything going.

NFL Betting Week 1 Trends

• Over is 8-2 in GB last 10 road games.
• GB are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
• Under is 7-1 in SEA last 8 games overall.
• Under is 8-2 in SEA last 10 games in September.
• SEA are 20-7 ATS in their last 27 vs. NFC.

Week 1 NFL Prediction

Both teams looked good in the preseason and should be hitting stride heading into Week 1. Seattle has lost one game in the last two years at home and on National Television the Hawks have been electric.

It looks like a bad matchup for the Packers for me – Seattle’s pass defense should be able to limit Aaron Rodgers and Eddie Lacy will likely have a tough time to get going.

The crowd will be loud and the Seahawks will respond in a big way Thursday!

Week 1 Final Score Pick: 4* Play Seattle Seahawks -5
