It’s hard to get excited about this one as both teams are long out of the playoff picture and are just playing for pride at this stage of the season.

This game may grab the title of “lowlight of the week” unless Odell Beckham Jr. can make another TD grab that leaves the football world reeling and commentators speechless.

The Jags come into this one riding a four game losing streak, and they’re the “hotter” of the two teams as the Giants have dropped six in a row themselves.

Jacksonville is still very much in the hunt for the first overall pick in next year’s draft as they’re deadlocked with the Oakland Raiders with identical 1-10 records. The G-Men meanwhile officially had their almost non-existent chances at winning the NFC East dashed on Thursday when the Eagles defeated the Cowboys. A win for either team means little in the grand scheme of things, though Jacksonville technically has more to lose by winning (if that makes sense).

Jaguars

With just one win in 11 games the Jags come into this one with next year already on their minds. Little has improved for this team that was wretched a year ago and actually did themselves a disservice in 2013 by winning four of five games after an 0-8 start, doing nothing more than costing themselves a first overall pick and all but ensuring they’d be terrible again this year.

This team will be hoping they can actually get losing right this time around, which isn’t to say that they’re going to go out and tank the rest of the season, but stringing together wins right now is not what this team needs to help themselves in the future.

QB Blake Bortles was the team’s first round pick a year ago (third overall) and he really hasn’t been a difference maker for the Jags yet. Bortles has put up just over 2,000 yards passing in his eight starts with eight touchdown passes to go along with 15 interceptions (yeesh).  It’s tough to fault Bortles for the team’s struggles and his poor numbers; the Jags have allowed 43 sacks on their QBs, that’s the worst in the NFL. Jacksonville’s run game is managing just 96 yards per game and the options at wide receiver are very limited in the absence of Justin Blackmon.

Giants

It’s been yet another forgettable season for the Giants who at one point looked like they may stick around to give the Cowboys and Eagles a run in the NFC East. New York stumbled out of the gate with an 0-2 start but righted the ship with three straight wins where the offense piled up 105 points in that stretch.

The wheels fell off completely in week six however when they went into Philadelphia and were demolished 27-0 in a game where the experts were split on who the winner would be and a good number of pundits actually had the Giants winning. The Giants lost their best receiver for the season in that game when Victor Cruz went down with a torn patellar tendon; though that injury opened the door for the emergence of Odell Beckham Jr. the Giants haven’t fully recovered from loss of Cruz and are winless without him in the lineup.

For all intents and purposes this is likely the last season coach Tom Coughlin will be with the Giants and this team should rally around that and give a few more good games to the coach who brought home two Super Bowls in the last decade.

New York was a lot better last week in their game against Dallas that they really should’ve won. Eli Manning had one of his better games this season, tossing three TDs on 338 yards passing, including the catch of the year by Odell Beckham Jr.

Week 13 Giants vs. Jaguars 4* Free Pick

The Giants are favoured by a mere three points which I’m still trying to wrap my head around. Sure the Giants have not looked like world beaters this season, but of Jacksonville’s 10 losses this season, just one has come by three points or less.

I think the Giants are winning this game outright and I don’t expect it to be close. Go with the Giants in this game.
