The Eagles have dropped back-to-back games in convincing fashion, and in doing so, have given away control of their own destiny in the NFC East. The Eagles picked up a big win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, but answered back from that game with a 24-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks the following week.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the team fell to the Cowboys on Sunday night, dropping that contest by a score of 38-27, and falling out of first place in the NFC East. Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant hurt the Eagles more than any other. He lit up the Eagles’ secondary on Sunday night to the tune of 114 yards and three touchdowns on six receptions.

That game saw the Eagles come back from a 21-0 deficit to score 24 unanswered points and take a three-point lead, but the Cowboys dominated the rest of the way. Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez completed 17-of-28 pass attempts for 252 yards and two interceptions. On the season, Sanchez has thrown for 10 touchdowns and been picked off nine times.

Philadelphia will close out its regular season schedule with back-to-back road games inside the division. After this contest they’ll head out to the Meadowlands for a date with the New York Giants on Dec. 28. If the Eagles lose to the Redskins on Sunday and the Cowboys beat the Indianapolis Colts, Dallas will clinch the NFC East.

Washington’s season hasn’t been quite as successful. The Redskins currently reside in the cellar of the NFC East with a 3-11 record after having lost six games in a row. The latest was Sunday’s 24-13 defeat at the hands of the Giants. Robert Griffin III entered the game in relief of an injured Colt McCoy and completed 18 of his 27 pass attempts fro 236 yards and a touchdown without an interception.

McCoy left the game with a neck injury and has been place on season-ending injured reserve.

Free Philadelphia vs. Washington Pick:

The under has been the play when NFC East teams clash this season, and that looks to be the case again in this one. While the Eagles’ offense is what gets all the press, that unit hasn’t been all that great of late, while the team’s defense has been winning games for the team.

NFL Betting Trends:

  • The under is 4-1 in the Redskins’ last five games overall, and 4-0 in their last four home games.
  • The under is 6-2 in the Eagles’ last eight games against NFC East opponents, and it is 7-2 in the Redskins’ last nine games against NFC East opponents.
