Kansas City
The Chiefs may not look all that impressive up close but you cannot argue with the results so far.
They have won their last 5 games and have not given up more than 20 points in any one, taking the pressure off an offense that although considered pedestrian, has enough big play potential to keep opponents offense.

Their style is what drags down opinions on this team but you can easily make a case that nobody is playing better football than them over the last month as they tracked down Denver atop the AFC West.
Jamaal Charles is coming off his best game of the season with 152 yards against Seattle.
As long as they can run the ball like that Alex Smith can take what the defense gives them including a few three and outs over the course of the game.
Even though no receivers have a TD catch this season the Chiefs are in the upper half in scoring in the league.

Their best skill is scoring just enough to win but we could see a little more this week.
Oakland
It looks like the Raiders are doomed to a winless season in 2014…though I don’t think that can be a shock to those running the team.
They have the worst offense in the league and the defense is not much better. There have been a few close losses but most have been of the variety that left little doubt.
Even though they are hunting down the top pick in next year’s draft this franchise is many quality players away from being competitive and is unlikely to play spoiler down the stretch.
Since the outlook is so bleak there was no reason not to give rookie QB Derek Carr a shot.
The results have been mixed but the fact that he is not throwing a ton of interceptions despite the fact that the team has no running game has been encouraging.
Further the weapons at his disposal are not necessarily NFL quality after leading receiver James Jones.

Carr’s continued development is the only reason to watch these games.

You could hardly blame the Chiefs for looking ahead but this well coached team will methodically hand the Raiders another beating.
