Cleveland’s season is done but they can play spoiler.

Cleveland

The Johnny Manziel experiment for 2014 is over as Johnny Football left the game due to injury in just his second start.

The Browns were essentially already out of the playoffs at that point so you can’t blame him for that too but the returns were pretty minimal in his first season.

Cleveland still has a couple of things to play for in this final week.

The first would be having a .500 record for the first time since 2007 and the other would be crushing the hopes of the rival Ravens.

Both should yield a strong effort.

The rumour heading into Sunday is that another rookie Connor Shaw will get the start this week.

He definitely showed moxie in his time at South Carolina so I don’t expect him to wilt under any pressure but I am not sure he is NFL calibre.

Pair that with a mediocre running game and the defense is going to have to be sharp in this one is the Browns want to get a victory.

Baltimore

The Ravens were not good at Houston last week.

Now the season comes down to whether they can get off the mat and beat the Browns this week, and even that might not be enough.

Baltimore beat Cleveland by 2 in their early season matchup, needing a Justin Tucker FG with no time left on the clock to do so.

They don’t need any style points on Sunday just a win and a little help to qualify for the postseason.

This team has been enigmatic all season and in my mind doesn’t deserve but the odds look good with San Diego having to win in KC.

Last week Joe Flacco was terrible, throwing three interceptions while completing less than 50% of his passes.

The funny thing about Flacco is that during the regular season he has never been a numbers guy, but in big games like the playoffs he has success.

He has to have one of those this week to give his team a chance to extend their season. The rest of the team is good enough.

NFL Handicapping Trends:

  • Under is 5-0 in Browns last 5 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
  • Browns are 3-0-2 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.
  • Browns are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
  • Ravens are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 vs. AFC North.
  • Under is 5-1 in Ravens last 6 games after accumulating less than 250 total yards in their previous game.
  • Ravens are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss.
  • Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Baltimore.
  • Road team is 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 meetings.
  • Under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

NFL Prediction: Cleveland +8.5

I have no doubt the Ravens will win this one. But that is a lot of chalk to give up against a Browns team with a lot of unknowns.

NFL Score prediction: Baltimore 27 – Cleveland 20

Sure Baltimore could roll and win 35-3 but I will be looking for value in other places.
