Denver

The Broncos took the week off after losing their Super Bowl rematch in Seattle.

It did them some good as they were more than ready to ruin Arizona’s perfect start, made easier by the fact that they knocked them down to their third string QB for a lot of the game.

Other than losing at Seattle the Broncos have every reason to believe that they are the top team in the AFC.

This week’s matchup with the Jets should be nothing more than a speedbump and a chance for old teammates to say hi to Eric Decker.

The Broncos made some moves in the offseason but this team pretty much plays the same.

The passing game is still lethal, though perhaps a notch or two behind last year, and the defense mediocre. They loaded up with difference makers on the defensive side of the ball but so far they are not getting much production.

The key will be how the likes of DeMarcus Ware and Aqib Talib perform in the big games.

New York Jets

The Jets took their opener against the Oakland Raiders but have lost 4 straight since, hitting rock bottom with a 31-0 loss in San Diego last weekend.

It was the kind of game that can be difficult to recover from and has the fans and media wondering if we might see Michael Vick a little bit to see if he can inspire the troops a little bit.

It probably doesn’t matter but for the sake of being competitive they can’t keep running Geno Smith out there. It is not all on him but he might be regressing.

New York has an effective ground game but it is hard to stick with it when you are always down.

Before the wheels fell off against Chargers the defense had been respectable too but if you give up 31 to San Diego, how much can you really expect to slow down the Broncos. Stranger things have happened but I just don’t see how the Jets are going to stay in this one.

The number could even be higher.

I hate giving up so much chalk so even though I think the Broncos will cover I am more likely to take the over.
