The Cards have won six straight games ahead of this contest and they will be looking to stretch a three game lead over their divisional foe.

The defending champs, off a loss in KC are absolutely desperate for a win in this one – they can’t afford another loss this year if they hope to make the playoffs.

Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals have been simply amazing this season. Three different quarterbacks have started for the team and the backup Drew Stanton has been tabbed as starter for the rest of the season after Carson Palmer went down with injury.

The Cards are coming off an impressive win against the other top seed in the NFC – the Detroit Lions in a game that their defense dominated and their offense did just enough.

Arizona’s defense has been sensational this year – they held a very good Detroit offense out of the end zone last week and limited them to just six points.

The Cards surrendered just 262 yards of offense to the Lions last week – almost 100 yards below the Lions’ seasonal average. The Cards held Calvin Johnson in check and they didn’t allow Detroit’s running game to get on track.

The most important matchup this week will be Arizona’s third ranked run defense (78.6 yards per game) against Marshawn Lynch. Seattle’s passing offense scares nobody – Arizona will have to key on Lynch and Russell Wilson to have success – you have to like their chances based on the way they have been playing.

Offensively the Cardinals aren’t anything special – they are just solid in every aspect.

Andre Ellington is a dangerous runner but hasn’t done much, Drew Stanton won’t wow you but he won’t hurt you and the trio of Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd and John Brown are more than capable of holding their own against Seattle’s surprisingly susceptible pass defense.

Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks have a ton of work to do to not only defend their Super Bowl crown but to just qualify for the postseason.

A good first step will be do cool off the Cardinals – one of the teams they are chasing in the division.

Off a 24-20 loss against the Chiefs in a game that Jamaal Charles rumbled for 159 yards and two scores the Hawks defense is front and center again – just what Richard Sherman and company have created form themselves.

The good news for Seattle is that the Cards are the second worst rushing offense in the NFL – there will be no Jamaal Charles or DeMarco Murray to terrorize them.

That would seem to leave the onus on Seattle’s pass defense that will be tasked with limiting Drew Stanton and the Arizona passing game.

Stanton did throw for 306 yards, 2 TDs and 2 interceptions against Detroit – Seattle third ranked pas defense (215 yards per game allowed) should have its hands full.

Perhaps the biggest concern for the Seahawks heading into Sunday’s clash is the play of their offense. It hasn’t been great folks – outside of Marshawn Lynch nobody has stepped up in the absence of Percy Harvin and Golden Tate.

The Hawks are without a real threat in the passing game – far too one-dimensional at this point in time.

If Lynch struggles, the Hawks are in trouble.

But at home you have to figure that Lynch and Russell Wilson will bring something special.

NFL Week 12 Betting Trends

• ARI are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games.
• ARI are 17-5 ATS in their last 22 vs. NFC.
• ARI are 6-2 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
• Over is 17-5 in SEA last 22 games in November.
• SEA are 15-6 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
• SEA are 19-8 ATS in their last 27 vs. NFC.
• Home team is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 meetings.

It is hard to believe that the league’s best team is a 6 1/2 point underdog – seriously!

4* NFL Week 12 Betting Prediction

Seattle has failed to cover in five of their last six games while the Cards have covered in five straight – expect that trend to continue.

Arizona Cardinals to cover the 6 1/2 points

While I like the Seahawks to win, I also expect this divisional clash to be a tight, low scoring affair. Simply put 6 1/2 is too rich for my blood.
